The tourism sector in the UAE continues its continuous growth, as hotel establishment revenues rose to 33.5 billion dirhams during the first nine months of this year, with a growth rate of 4% compared to the same period last year, while hotel occupancy rates in the seven emirates increased to 77.8. %, which is among the highest percentages in the world.

Hotel nights recorded about 75.5 million nights in the period from January to the end of September 2024, an increase of 8% compared to the same period in 2023.

The announcement of these indicators came during the participation of the UAE delegation in the meeting of the 27th regular session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism, which was held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo.

During the meeting, the state delegation affirmed that the UAE continues to support joint Arab action in the tourism sector, which constitutes an important economic backbone and is influential in the sustainable development of the Arab region, and is considered one of the sectors most affected by transformations and challenges at the regional and global levels, which prompts the strengthening of cooperation, to provide opportunities. New projects that contribute to reformulating more flexible and innovative tourism strategies, thus supporting the position of the Arab region as a leading tourist destination at the regional and international levels.

The delegation indicated that the meeting represents an important step to discuss initiatives and projects that contribute to achieving tourism integration among Arab countries, developing more innovative tourism products, exchanging experiences and best practices in this regard, stimulating intra-tourism, and encouraging the flow of tourism investments, especially in light of the increasing growth. For tourism demand during the current period.

He stressed that joint Arab tourism efforts do not stop at economic aspects only, but rather extend to being a means of achieving cultural rapprochement, preserving the ancient Arab heritage, and strengthening the common identity of the Arab peoples.

The state delegation highlighted the “National Tourism Strategy 2031” and its vital role in developing and developing the tourism sector in the country through the initiatives and projects on which this strategy is based, and aims to strengthen the national tourism identity, and for the UAE to obtain the best tourism identity around the world, and to consolidate its position as a tourist destination. Pioneering, raising the tourism sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product of the national economy to 450 billion dirhams by the next decade.
