He told «Emirates Today» that cutting the yellow light signal is not a traffic violation if the vehicle’s driver is unable to stop safely, and the surveillance cameras are not taken by the intersections, calling for taking caution when exceeding the yellow signal in order to avoid a traffic accident that may result in injuries to what becomes With him a violation of the provisions of traffic and traffic.

He said that the basic principle in the traffic and traffic law is to adhere to the traffic lights placed on the roads, as the yellow light means that the vehicle must stop and not exceed the parking line, or the line that is at the level of the traffic lighting column, or skip the infantry transit area. In the event that it is unable to stop safely, the vehicle may continue to walk while taking care. This means that drivers who started crossing while lighting the yellow color can complete the crossing even if the reference turns red while crossing.

He called on drivers to reduce speed near traffic lights to avoid the resulting risks in the event of skipping and completely overriding the traffic light, in addition to the risks that can occur due to the driver’s lack of control of his vehicle, and his attempt to stop it before skipping the signal, which exposes him to the deterioration of his vehicle or its coup Or collide with cars coming from other directions.

A recent statistic issued by the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police stated that 1943 vehicles had been seized for 15 days to overcome the red light signal in Abu Dhabi and its environs during the period from the first of last March until September 17.

Article Seven of the Federal Traffic Law, which began to work on the first of March 2008, states that if the heavy vehicle driver causes any accident that results in the deterioration of the vehicle he drives, or any other vehicle, or bypassing the red light signal, or bypassing a place in which it is forbidden Overcoming, the vehicle seizes a month, and the driver’s license is reserved for a year and is not returned to it except after passing a training course in one of the driving institutes adopted by the Traffic Department, and imposes a fine of 3000 dirhams, in addition to any other penalty stipulated in any other legislation.

Al -Shehhi stressed that the emphasis on the application of the penalty for reserving vehicles of drivers who violate to reduce the risk of overcoming the red light signal, which often leads to severe accidents resulting in deaths and severe injuries due to the intensity of the collision that occurs as a result of the great speed that these vehicles go to realize the signal before changing them to color Red.

He pointed out that the new amendments to the traffic and traffic law tightened the penalties for a violation of the red light signal, which reaches the vehicle’s reservation for a period of 15 days, and imposing a fine of 800 dirhams in addition to registering eight traffic points on the driver.

Regarding the complaint of some drivers of the insufficient period of the yellow signal on the intersections, some forcing some to cross the red signal because they were unable to stop the vehicle on time, Al -Shehhi said that the traffic lights operate according to an integrated electronic system that allows the vehicle to stop safely without having to overcome the yellow signal if it is It goes according to the speeds specified on the roads.
