The director of the football team in Sharjah Club, Badr Ahmed, said that his team is seeking today to present a strong match against Al -Jazira team, and won the qualification card for the final match of the President’s Cup, leading to winning the 11th title of Sharjah, indicating that the Sharjah team faced many difficulties in the recent period, especially in terms of strong stress that a number of its players were exposed to the many posts and the pressure of matches.

Badr Ahmed added to «Emirates Today»: “The exhaustion suffered by a number of players, especially those who participated with the team in its last two matches against Iran and North Korea in the World Cup qualifiers 2026, affected the team during its last match against Al -Ahly youth in the 19th round of the ADNOC Professional League, which ended in a negative tie.”

Sharjah is currently ranked second in the ranking of the ADNOC Professional League teams with 41 points behind the leaders of Al -Ahly with 47 points, and the team remained eight decisive matches against Al -Jazira on the 27th of this year (postponed from the 16th round) and in front of Bani Yas in the 20th round, victory in the 21st round, Ajman in the 22nd round, and unity in the 23rd round, and with Al Ain in the 24th round, and in front of Khor Fakkan in the 25th round, while he will face Al Wasl in the last and final round.

Badr Ahmed explained: “We were hoping that the Sharjah Club’s request for postponement of today’s match will take place until later, taking into account the status of the team, as it is preparing for an important entitlement to the Saudi Cooperation Team in the AFC Champions League 2, as a representative of the Emirati football, and until he appears in a manner befitting the Emirati ball and the Sharjah Club.”

He continued: “Despite the difficulties facing the team, our confidence is great in the team’s players and their ability to pass this great challenge.”

And if Sharjah has lost hope in the competition for the UAE league title after Al -Ahly youth moved the lead by seven points, Badr Ahmed said: “Sharjah did not lose hope that the league is still long, and that there are 24 points still on the field, and since there is an existing opportunity, whether for Sharjah or other teams, it can change everything in the competition.”

The director of the Sharjah team continued: “The team needs rehabilitation, especially in terms of the exhaustion process experienced by some of the players who participated with the team on March 20 and 25, and then played a strong match against Al -Ahly youth in the 19th round of the league.”

And Ahmed added: “We have a clear road map in Sharjah Club, and we are trying during the short period to arrange the team’s affairs for the next stage, but our focus is currently on today’s match against Al -Jazira in the President’s Cup, and then the upcoming matches will be prepared, whether at the level of the league matches or to confront the cooperation team in the AFC Champions League semi -final.”

The technical staff of the Sharjah team, led by Romanian coach Olario Cosmin, worked to equip the team well for today’s match against Al -Jazira, and work to rehabilitate some of the elements that were suffering from exhaustion due to the pressure of the matches, knowing that Sharjah has five players who were with the team in his last two matches against Iran and North Korea, they are: goalkeeper Khaled Tawhid, Kayo Lucas, Valon Pereira, Khaled Al -Zhani and Marcus Miloni.
