Lyon City, Singapore, announced its refusal to transfer its match against Sharjah in the AFC Champions League final, scheduled for next May 18, out of its stadium, adhering to its stay at the “Gallan Pisar” stadium in Singapore, as it won the right to host the meeting.
Sharjah had sent an official letter to the Asian Federation via the Emirates Football Association to change the match stadium and allocate another appropriate stadium, especially since the ground of the “Gallan Besar” stadium is from artificial grass, and is not appropriate to organize the final match due to its small size in terms of mass capacity, and is not commensurate with the Asian final requirements of this size.
“The Lyon City Club refuses to transfer its match outside its stadium, and confirms its commitment to the AFC regulations in this regard,” the Singapore club said in a press release directed at the Asian Football Confederation yesterday.
The statement added: “Lyon is working closely with the AFC and the Singapore Federation on the final arrangements (AFC Champions League 2), and we want to mention our position clearly, as this final match must play in Singapore, and as the club that won the right to host the final, so it is fair to be held in Singapore, and that (Gallan Sayar) is considered an approved stadium by the federation before the federation The Asian, and this tournament was successfully held. ”
The statement continued: “We urge the Asian Federation to allow Lyon City to hold this historic match at home.”
