Flydubai launches direct flights to Benghazi, service starts June 17, 2026

Flydubai launches direct Dubai–Benghazi flights from June 17, 2026, with three weekly services from Terminal 3 and Emirates codeshare for seamless connections.

Flydubai direct flights to Benghazi begin June 17, 2026

Flydubai has announced direct flights to Benghazi, marking the carrier as the first UAE national airline to operate non-stop services between Dubai and Benghazi Benina International Airport. The new Flydubai direct flights to Benghazi will commence on June 17, 2026, with three weekly rotations departing from Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport. The move aims to strengthen air links between the United Arab Emirates and Libya and provide passengers in eastern Libya easier access to Flydubai’s growing network via Dubai.

Schedule, terminal and frequency

Flights will operate three times per week from Dubai International’s Terminal 3 to Benghazi Benina International Airport. The service is scheduled to launch on June 17, 2026, aligning with the carrier’s summer capacity increases across its network. Operating from Terminal 3 is designed to streamline transfers for passengers connecting onto other services at Dubai’s principal international hub.

Fares and ticketing details

Flydubai has published promotional starting fares for the route, with roundtrip business-class tickets from Dubai to Benghazi beginning at AED 10,500 and basic economy roundtrips from AED 4,500. The airline also quoted fares from Benghazi to Dubai starting at USD 2,500 for business class and USD 800 for basic economy on a return basis. These published price points are intended to cater to both leisure and business passengers while the new link establishes demand on the corridor.

Codeshare with Emirates and network connectivity

The new route will be operated as part of a codeshare arrangement with Emirates, allowing passengers to book a single ticket and check baggage through to connecting destinations. The codeshare is intended to improve onward connectivity and make travel between Libya and Flydubai’s wider network simpler and more efficient. Through-ticketing with Emirates means travellers from Benghazi will be able to access a broader range of global destinations via Dubai without separate reservations.

Strategic expansion in East and North Africa

With the addition of Benghazi, Flydubai’s network in East and North Africa expands to 13 destinations, reflecting a targeted strategy to open markets that previously lacked direct services. The carrier recently added Nairobi as a second destination in Kenya after Mombasa and introduced seasonal services to El Alamein in Egypt for the summer. The airline has signalled a clear focus on supporting trade, tourism and cultural exchange by establishing direct air links between Dubai and underserved cities across the region.

Operational timing ahead of peak travel season

Flydubai said the launch comes as it increases capacity for the summer travel season and in anticipation of heightened demand ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday. Company executives highlighted the agility of the UAE aviation sector and Dubai’s geographic role as a transit hub when explaining the timing. The carrier also noted that it expects sustained positive momentum through the summer months and into the second half of the year, as passenger demand continues to recover across its markets.

Executive statements and strategic intent

Ghaith Al Ghaith, chief executive of Flydubai, described the Benghazi launch as a key step in the airline’s strategy to expand its route network and open markets previously underserved by direct air links. He said the carrier is concentrating on adding new destinations and increasing frequencies to meet growing travel demand, with the network expected to exceed 100 destinations by the summer. Sudir Sridharan, Flydubai’s senior regional vice president for commercial operations, emphasised Libya’s commercial potential and said the airline looks forward to welcoming passengers and offering more convenient travel options.

Flydubai has also resumed a broad range of services in recent weeks, restoring most destinations across the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Middle East and selected points in Europe and Russia. Seasonal summer services to popular holiday destinations such as Bodrum, Dubrovnik, Mykonos, Santorini and Tivat are slated to resume from May 22, 2026, while a daily operation to Bangkok will commence on July 1, 2026, further expanding the carrier’s Asian footprint.

Flydubai said the Benghazi route will be integrated into its wider scheduling and commercial plans to facilitate connections and cargo flows, supporting business links and tourism between Libya and the UAE. The three-weekly service from Terminal 3 and the Emirates codeshare aim to provide travellers from eastern Libya with a convenient gateway to Dubai and beyond.
