The draw for the tournament, which took place last month, placed Sharjah in the first group, next to Al-Rayyan of Qatar, Al-Kuwait of Kuwait, and Al-Shabab of Bahrain, while the second group includes five clubs represented by Al-Duhail of Qatar, Al-Khaleej of Saudi Arabia, Kazma of Kuwait, Ahli Sadab of Oman, and Miss Kerman of Iran.
Sharjah will open its campaign in the preliminary round on November 13, with a match between Al-Kuwait and Al-Kuwait, followed by a match with Al-Rayyan of Qatar, and then Al-Shabab of Bahrain on November 16.
The tournament system stipulates that the preliminary round will be held in a one-stage league system, at the conclusion of which the eight clubs qualifying for the quarter-finals will be determined, which will be held in a knockout system, in which the leaders of the two groups will meet at the conclusion of the preliminary round with the fourth of the other group, and the runners-up of the two groups will meet the third of the next group.
It is noteworthy that the Sharjah team, which was crowned last week with the “Emirates Cup”, the first title of the new local season, had previously won the bronze medal twice in a row in the Asian Champions Club Championships, which came in the 2018 and 2019 editions.
