The main round competitions of the 27th edition of the Al Habtoor International Women’s Tennis Challenge kick off today at the Tennis Complex at the Habtoor Grand Hotel and Resort in Dubai.

The tournament witnesses the participation of 100 of the most prominent female players seeking to reach the international level, and the total prize money is $100,000.

The tournament organizing committee held a press conference yesterday, during which the draw ceremony took place in the presence of the Director of Public Relations, Khaled Al Ali, the Director of Operations and the Refereeing Officer, Laith Al-Ani, the Director of the Al Habtoor Resort, Khaled Saeed, the Director of Media, Hossam Al-Jayousi, and the International Federation delegate, the Indian Sheetal. The draw for the main round, which is held with the participation of 32 players, resulted in balanced matches, the most notable of which is the match that brings together the first seed in the tournament, the Russian Kudermetova, with the Swiss Leon King, and the second seed, the Australian Rudinova, meets the British Amarini Banks, while the draw gave the third seed, the Dutch Hartono, a rest in this match. Round, as for fourth seed Alexandra of the Philippines, will play with Croatian Petra Marcinko.

For his part, the founder and president of the Al Habtoor Group, businessman Khalaf Ahmed Al Habtoor, who came up with the idea of ​​launching the first women’s tournament in the Emirates and the region, said in press statements: “We are happy that the tournament has become a milestone, not on the level of women’s tennis, but on the level of women’s sports, their empowerment, and the discovery of talents.” It has also become known as the bridge to reach the world, and has been characterized by its continued development over more than a quarter of a century during which it has achieved many successes.” He added: “Dubai is accustomed to creating events, and since we are part of it, our slogan is It is working in the spirit of one team, so that this work can rise above the horizons and achieve success and sustainability.”

In turn, Laith Al-Ani said during the press conference: “The international tournament is enjoying decent success, so that the players will gain more experience,” adding that “the tournament will be held in four stadiums, and will be managed by judges from six countries: America, Britain, Egypt, Lebanon, Romania, and Croatia.”
