A cargo plane belonging to the American postal company “UPS” crashed in Dubai yesterday evening, after crashing into the Nad Al Sheba military camp shortly after it took off from Dubai Airport. The two crew members of the plane died in the accident. The General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed that the plane, a Boeing 747-400, crashed in an uninhabited area between Emirates Road and Al Ain Road in Nad Al Sheba camp, and all measures were taken to extinguish the fire that broke out in the plane, and the bodies of the two pilots who died were found. They were driving it, while the concerned authorities conducted the necessary investigations to determine the causes of the accident.

The Director-General of the UAE Civil Aviation Authority, Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, told Emirates Al-Youm that a UPS 747-400 cargo plane registered in the United States, crashed near Dubai Airport while trying to land in… Al Minhad runway at 25:7 minutes yesterday evening.

He added that the available preliminary information indicates that no resident of the country was injured as a result of the plane crash, given that it fell in an uninhabited desert area.

Al-Suwaidi pointed out that the plane continued to burn for several hours after it crashed, “because it was full of fuel.”

He added that the pilot of the plane discovered that a fire had occurred in the cockpit, and thick smoke rose, shortly after the plane took off from Dubai Airport on its way out of the country, so he tried to return again to the airport and land there, but he failed to do so, and then the plane disappeared from the screens. radar, and a huge fire broke out in the plane that crashed.

He said that the civil aviation authorities have actually begun an extensive investigation to uncover the causes and circumstances of the accident, while the initial results indicate that a technical malfunction occurred in the cockpit, which led to the accident, pointing out that the investigation into the accident will take a long period of time, which may reach a full year. Or two years.

Al-Suwaidi indicated that the civil aviation authorities will search for the black box, as soon as the fire, which remained burning for more than two hours after the plane crash, is extinguished. He confirmed that the plane was registered with the civil aviation authorities in the country, and entered the country legally, and the US civil aviation authorities will be contacted to complete information about the plane.

In a statement published on its website, UPS confirmed that the accident occurred after the plane took off from Dubai, towards the German city of Cologne. The company’s director of operations, Bob Litex, said: “It is a very unfortunate accident, and we will do everything we can to find out the reason, and we will not make speculation about these reasons.”
