Sales outlets offer discounts of up to 40% on food items

A tour by Emirates Today in a number of major sales outlets showed that there was a large demand and long queues at cash registers in the middle of the week, to take advantage of these offers.

Consumers interviewed by Emirates Today said that these discounts allow them to purchase food commodities at reasonable prices, demanding that the discounts include more goods for which consumers are in high demand, or that discounts on them, such as eggs, dairy, and meat, be offered less. They also demanded that the discounts include more than one brand. Trade of the commodity itself.

In turn, officials at two sales outlets said that the discounts organized by the sales outlets come in cooperation and coordination with the largest companies producing food commodities in the country and some suppliers, coinciding with the (11/11) sales, or what is known as “Singles’ Day,” and the “White Friday” sales that are being witnessed. In detail, the consumer, Fadia Adnan, said, “Major outlets launched offers with discounts of up to 40%, which focused primarily on a large number of food commodities and fresh foods, and also included basic commodities in high demand from consumers, such as poultry, milk, and rice. And flour, in addition to similar discounts on electrical and household appliances used in preparing food.”

She confirmed to “Emirates Today” that these reductions allow the purchase of food commodities at reasonable prices, demanding that they include more commodities that are in high demand by consumers, such as meat and fish, and that they include more than one brand of the same commodity.

For his part, consumer Ahmed Al-Suwaidi said, “The discount rates exceeded 40% on a large number of food commodities and fresh foods, in addition to electrical and household appliances, pointing out that these offers include goods that are in high demand by consumers, such as poultry, cheese, oils, and vegetables.” And fruits.”

Al-Suwaidi suggested that the reductions include other commodities that are in high demand and whose prices are usually high, such as meat, fish, and dairy, in addition to repeating such reductions from time to time.

In the same context, consumer Aisha Al-Tijani confirmed that the current reductions included food commodities of interest to consumers such as milk, poultry, pasta, juices, sugar, tea and coffee, in addition to household appliances such as those used in food preparation and ovens.

She demanded that the discounts include more goods on which discounts are less offered, such as eggs and dairy, and that they include more than one brand of the same product as much as possible, to provide more options for consumers.

Market competition

In addition, the official at one of the major sales outlets, Muhammad Al-Asaad, said: “The discounts organized by the outlets come in cooperation and coordination with a number of the largest food producing companies in the country, and some suppliers, coinciding with the (Singles’ Day) and (White Friday) sales that E-commerce platforms are witnessing this, as part of the competition between sales outlets and electronic platforms, with the aim of increasing sales, especially as the end of the year approaches.

He stressed that the discounts are extensive and include many food commodities that are in demand, pointing out that outlets have offered discounts on several brands of the same commodity, especially for commodities such as rice, oils, and tea.

For his part, the official at another sales outlet, Abu Bakr Hafeez, said: “The current time of the year usually witnesses great competition between traditional sales outlets on the one hand, and e-commerce platforms on the other hand, to increase sales and raise market shares.”

He pointed out that e-commerce platforms focus a large part of their discounts on food commodities, as well as electrical appliances, which has motivated traditional sales outlets to expand their discounts in this regard. Hafeez revealed that the discounts on some sales outlets will continue for several weeks, expecting that the discounts will witness a continuous diversification of goods to satisfy the needs of various consumers.
