Dubai Municipality revealed, during the conference, that it had registered one million and 600,000 food products in the “Montaji Plus” system, which it recently launched experimentally, noting that there are 26,000 food establishments registered in its systems within the emirate.
Director General of Dubai Municipality, Dawoud Al Hajri, stressed the importance of adopting a proactive approach in confronting global challenges, such as climate change, the rapid transformation in methods of manufacturing and preparing food, and renewed patterns of food consumption.

The Director of the Food Safety Department in Dubai Municipality, Sultan Ali Al-Taher, told Emirates Al-Youm on the sidelines of the conference activities that there are 26,000 food establishments registered in Dubai Municipality so far, while the municipality recorded the entry of eight million tons of food through Dubai ports until the end of the year. The third quarter of this year, and this figure reflects a significant increase in the volume of trade related to the food and beverage sector.
He stated that Dubai Municipality organizes 65,000 inspection visits to food establishments throughout the year, and they include all types of visits, including routine and related to reports, as well as inspection visits, indicating that measures are taken against transgressing establishments, and if we find that their violations are dangerous, the penalty reaches closure. He explained that the procedures begin with fines and end with closure, but the “Dubai Municipality Program for Excellence in Food Systems” has strengthened food establishments’ application of the highest standards of excellence in nutrition and food safety.
He added: “The Dubai International Food Safety Conference is considered one of the largest conferences in the world, as it witnesses an increase in the number of visitors every year, as the current session witnesses the attendance of 3,400 participants from inside and outside the Emirates, and this reflects Dubai’s reputation and the participants’ keenness to attend the conference.” .
Acting Executive Director of Environment, Health and Safety at Dubai Municipality, Naseem Rafi’a, said: The conference focuses on examinations of genetically modified products and cultured foods, proactive management of chemical risks, and other examinations that help in managing crises in the field of food. It also offers a special program for students and young researchers, and gives them space. To present their scientific projects in the field of food safety.
She pointed out that Dubai Municipality launched the “Muntaji Plus” program, which is a new system that was integrated to include categories of food and consumer products. All products that were registered in Dubai Municipality’s systems were uploaded in an integrated manner to this system, as it contains several services, including product control and registration. And related permits and other procedures related to food safety, explaining that there are 1.6 million food items and products that have been registered in the system.
She explained that the “Montaji Plus” system is based on artificial intelligence techniques, so that products are listed using artificial intelligence, ensuring that these products are accepted, meet the conditions and are not rejected, in addition to reviewing all certificates using technology, which saves time for the employee and the customer.
