Airlines ticket prices recorded increases in proportions that exceeded a 100% barrier for direct flights, from the local market to Arab destinations, such as Amman, Cairo, Beirut, Alexandria, Casablanca and Tunisia, in conjunction with the Eid al -Fitr holiday, at the end of March, compared to the levels of prices for the same trips when they were reserved last January, according to data of networking sites to book tickets.
Two officials in the tourism and travel companies confirmed to “Emirates Today” that the “Spring” school holiday, with the Eid Al -Fitr vacation, contributed to increasing the demand for flights for Arab destinations, with the residents of the state who accept the visit of their families and relatives during this occasion, pointing out that some airlines resorted to operating additional flights to accommodate this great demand.
The research indicators, until yesterday, showed significant increases in prices for direct flights from the UAE market to these destinations, based on flights for a week (from March 29 to the fourth of next April), compared to the prices of the same flights that were available for reservation last January.
The Beirut destination witnessed the largest increase in prices based on the comparison, as the average price of trips reached about 4,500 dirhams, and Amman about 2800 dirhams, while the average prices to Cairo reached more than 3500 dirhams, and about 2700 to Alexandria, and the prices of trips recorded a noticeable increase in light of the high demand, bringing the average to about 5500 dirhams for the destination of Casablanca, and 5,000 dirhams to Tunisia.
The data includes the price of direct and home trips, which are primary prices that are subject to availability and the lowest cost, and differ from “flexible prices” that provide additional benefits for customers, including the ability to modify without fees and other advantages.
Reservation indicators
“Through the reservation indicators, we have noticed a significant increase in prices to the most sought -after Arab destinations during the Eid Al -Fitr holiday,” said Yassin Diab, Director General of Al -Faisal Agency for Travel and Tourism, noting that the coincidence of the “School Spring” and “Al -Fitr” was a great motivation for a greater segment of customers to travel during this period.
He added that «air transport is witnessing a great demand during the current period, and it reaches its peak at the end of March and the first week of April», pointing out that this applies to the flights coming to the state and the departure as well, where the state is witnessing an increase in the demand for tourist holidays in it, from Arab and international markets during the Eid holiday.
He explained that the Eid holiday pushes many of the state’s residents to visit their families, and at the same time we find an increasing segment of dealers traveling abroad to spend holidays on tourist destinations, especially relatively close to which facilities are granted in relation to visas.
Arab destinations
Diab stated that «the increases for the prices of trips from the UAE to Arab destinations during the Eid Al -Fitr holiday reaches 100% for some stations and for specific days, compared to the average prices for the same trips if they were booked in January and the first half of February,” noting that the most demanding Arab destinations are in Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and Morocco, explaining that the ticket prices during the Eid holiday are at the highest levels since the beginning of the current year.
Diab expected that many flights to Arab stations will record full occupancy rates in the next few days, as occupancy rates are continuously on flights, pointing out that some airlines resorted to operating additional flights to deal with the large demand, indicating that return flights at the end of the Eid holiday, and the end of the school vacation, also witness great pressure.
Travel
For his part, the CEO of STS said in the Dubai Link Group, Salah Mansour: “The Eid Al -Fitr holiday is considered one of the times the most important travel movement, whether from inside or outside the Emirates, where many citizens and residents seek to spend the holiday in various destinations, whether for tourism purposes or to visit the family, and in light of this increase in the demand for flights, the flight sector is witnessing a remarkable increase in tickets Flying from the Emirates to Arab destinations. ”
Mansour stated that the best mechanism to avoid high prices is to book tickets long before the date of the trip, as travelers can get special offers or lower prices compared to the last reservations, pointing out that the prices of recent reservations will rise more than 100% for a large number of trips and for a longer period of time.
He indicated that «the prices of tickets for Eid trips are at high levels currently, and the gradual rise will continue during the coming period, and expectations indicate that the occupancy rates will be complete on a large number of trips a few days before the travel date, in conjunction with the Eid Al -Fitr holiday.
He said that “the large demand for travel is higher than the seat capacity available on flights during the peak period, and thus prices rise to large levels.”
