Dubai’s hotel market saw the addition of 1,131 luxury five-star rooms between January and July 2024 across six hotel establishments, according to data from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.
According to the data, a copy of which was obtained by “Emirates Today”, the size of the luxury hotel market in the “five-star” category increased from 51,635 rooms at the end of January 2024, to 52,766 rooms at the end of last July.
The number of five-star hotel establishments also increased from 159 establishments at the end of January 2024 to 165 establishments at the end of July 2024.
In addition, the number of hotel rooms in Dubai at the end of July 2024 amounted to more than 151,417 hotel rooms within 825 hotel establishments, compared to 148,711 hotel rooms, within 813 establishments at the end of July 2023.
According to data from the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, luxury five-star hotel rooms accounted for 35% of the total hotel market in Dubai, recording more than 52,700 hotel rooms in 165 hotel establishments, followed by four-star hotel rooms at 29%, recording about 43,600 hotel rooms in 196 establishments.
For its part, hotels classified between “three stars” and “one star” accounted for about 19% of the total hotel market volume with a capacity exceeding 28.8 thousand hotel rooms within 275 hotel establishments. As for hotel apartments, they recorded about 26.1 thousand rooms within 189 establishments, thus accounting for about 17% of the total hotel market volume in Dubai.
In turn, the hotel room occupancy rate in Dubai reached 77% in the first seven months of 2024, compared to an average occupancy of 76% during the same period in 2023.
Data from the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai revealed that the emirate attracted 10.62 million international tourists during the first seven months of this year, compared to 9.83 million tourists during the same period last year, with a growth rate of about 8%, as the emirate continued to record strong rates in various indicators, including the total number of visitors, the number of hotel rooms, booked nights, the average daily rate, as well as the average room return, compared to last year’s levels.
