The Dubai Sports Council announced the organization of the sixth edition of the “Dubai Open Basketball Academies Championship,” which aims to enhance efforts to attract and develop sports talent, and more than 1,200 players, both male and female, from different age levels participate, forming more than 80 teams, playing 300 matches during the period. From the day after tomorrow, Sunday, until the eighth of next December, and the second stage of the tournament will be held from January until the end of the 2025 sports season.

This came during the press conference held at the headquarters of the Dubai Sports Council, in which the Director of the Sports Development Department at the Dubai Sports Council, Ahmed Al-Mahri, the Executive Director of the Basketball Federation, Mohammed Al-Hammadi, the General Manager of “Sport 360”, Bassam Nofal, and the captain of the UAE national team and the star of the Shabab Al-Ahly Football Club, spoke. Al-Mahri said: “We are pleased to launch the sixth edition of the tournament, which comes within the framework of the Dubai Government’s plan for the year 2033, and within the policy of the Dubai Sports Council to attract and develop sports talents. This tournament is a wonderful platform for our players, whether talented or even amateur, to discover their passion for this exciting sport. The tournament is a major source for attracting and developing sports talent in basketball, as it provides sports club teams, private academies, and the national team with the best talented players, and our goal is to provide a platform for challenge and fair competition, so that the opportunity For the private clubs and academies spread across Dubai, to choose the best talents to join their teams, we at the Dubai Sports Council will ensure that these talents continue to play and maintain their level until they reach the professional stage.”

For his part, Bassam Nofal said: “There is a program to identify distinguished talents to help them reach higher levels in basketball, and in all tournament matches there will be talent scouts from the tournament organizing committee to choose the best talented people to join the talented program launched by the Dubai Sports Council.” In turn, player Qais Omar said: “The participation of such a large number of male and female players in the tournament is a great achievement, especially with the increasing number of participants every year, and this makes me proud to be part of this wonderful tournament.”
