The Dubai Police General Traffic Department revealed six main reasons that lead to committing a sudden deviation violation, the most prominent of which is using the phone, being busy with side conversations, and not paying attention or ensuring that the road is clear when moving from one lane to another.
In detail, Dubai Police warned of the consequences of sudden vehicle swerving, as these violations rank third on the list of the most serious causes of traffic accidents, and lead to loss of life and property, explaining that they are an unexpected movement that the driver usually makes to avoid a sudden situation in front of him, and he did not He was well prepared for it.
The Dubai Police General Traffic Department revealed that 262 traffic accidents occurred during the first half of this year, due to sudden deviations, resulting in the death of 15 people and the injury of 224 others, with 25 serious injuries and 199 injuries that ranged between moderate and minor.
According to statistics, 6% of accidents that occurred as a result of a sudden swerve violation led to deaths, and 9.5% of those injured suffered injuries that may be chronic and last for life.
She explained that this violation is mainly related to the driver’s behavior, and occurs as a result of six main reasons, the first of which is preoccupation with the phone, whether browsing the Internet and social networks, photography, chatting, or preoccupation with other matters such as eating food and side conversations with companions, or while adjusting mirrors.
She pointed out that the second reason is fatigue and exhaustion, as a result of lack of sleep or driving the vehicle for a long period without rest, which reduces the driver’s concentration and slows down his reaction.
The reasons detailed by Dubai Police in the “Security” patrol included psychological factors, such as stress, anger, sadness, being late for appointments, or any other emotional state that may affect the driver’s decisions and push him to act recklessly.
She pointed out that the list of reasons includes weather factors such as rain, fog, or strong winds that reduce visibility and make it difficult to control the car, as well as the condition of the vehicle and its exposure to a mechanical defect, tire explosion, or brake failure, which forces the driver to swerve suddenly, and finally surprises such as Another vehicle or animal appears unexpectedly in front of the driver.
The General Traffic Department stated that the most prominent consequences of sudden deviation are traffic accidents, injuries and material losses, in addition to their psychological impact on drivers or people who are exposed to these accidents.
