200 Emirati women occupy leadership positions in the Emirates Group

Emirates Group celebrated the outstanding contributions of Emirati women to the group’s growth and development, and their vital role in promoting the growth and prosperity of the aviation and travel sector in the UAE, noting that women constitute 38% of the group’s Emirati workforce.

The group confirmed, in a statement yesterday, that Emirati women have proven their efficiency and capabilities through various career paths within a wide range of jobs in various sectors in the group, and have begun to contribute effectively to establishing the foundations for building national talents, to support the next generation of the nation’s sons and daughters in the field of aviation.

Emirates Group said it had recruited a record number of Emirati women to its workforce in the past fiscal year, a move that underscores its commitment to enhancing the role of Emirati women in the country’s growing aviation sector, providing them with the right skills and expertise to enable them to achieve their desired professional development and reach their full potential.

The Emirates Group also recorded a 20% growth over the previous year in the number of Emirati women holding leadership positions, with more than 200 Emirati women now holding leadership positions in the group, contributing to its growth across a number of business sectors.

Emirates Group revealed that in March 2024, it announced the promotion of five Emirati women leaders to senior executive positions in key human resources and commercial support departments. At the same time, the group continued to provide Emirati women with industry-leading resources to hone their leadership skills and develop their career prospects, to occupy key positions including senior executives, outstation managers and even department heads.

Over the past 20 years, the group has provided mentoring and training programmes for Emirati female employees to enhance their professional growth and career path, through quality leadership development programmes, including leadership programmes in major global companies in the aviation sector such as Rolls Royce, Airbus, General Electric and others.

Emirati women in leadership positions at the Emirates Group also have the opportunity to participate in pioneering leadership development programmes, such as the INSEAD Women’s Leadership Programme, to equip them with impactful skills and experiences, and enable them to create lasting professional change during their leadership journey. More than 70 Emirati women have completed one or more of these programmes in the past 12 months.

Last year, Emirates sponsored three Emirati female employees to pursue higher education abroad at three of the top 100 ranked universities worldwide.

Over the past year, the Group has also entered into a number of strategic partnerships with both NAFIS and international institutions such as Microsoft, Rochester Institute of Technology and PricewaterhouseCoopers Academy to provide training and development programmes tailored to the Group’s Emirati workforce.

Through these programmes, Emirati women are provided with additional tools and resources that support their career advancement and enhance their contributions to the workforce.

The number of Emirati women working at Flydubai has tripled

Flydubai has confirmed record growth in the representation of Emirati women within its workforce, noting that the number of female Emirati cadres who have joined the carrier since August 2022 has nearly tripled.

In a statement yesterday, on the occasion of “Emirati Women’s Day,” she said that this growth reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting Emirati women, in line with the vision of the state and its wise leadership, which has been a pioneer in this field, and in a way that enhances ongoing efforts to make the carrier the ideal environment for work, creativity, and investment in Emirati talents in all its locations.
