The Fujairah Science Club won 25 international scientific awards last year for distinctive innovations that included a fire-fighting robot, a drone for seed dispersal, an automated security screener, an automated robot arm, and a “drone” to transport medicines to patients, which were designed by young Emirati members. The club, who proved their superiority in international competitions held in Indonesia, Bosnia, Tunisia, Jordan, and Dubai.
The director of the Fujairah Science Club, Dr. Saif Al-Maili, told Emirates Today that the club achieved a remarkable achievement during the past year by winning 25 international scientific awards thanks to innovative projects designed by Emirati students to meet the needs of society and develop practical solutions that facilitate life, noting that These achievements came as a result of the great support of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, and the continuous follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.
Al-Maili stated that among these projects, the innovator Ahmed Saif (14 years old) created a “drone” to scatter seeds over vast areas at the lowest cost and manpower, inspired by the state’s vision of promoting agriculture through the “Plant in the Emirates” project. On the other hand, the innovator Salem Al-Lailili presented (13 years) Two “drones” designated to serve the community, the first to transport medicines from hospitals to patients, especially the elderly and people of determination who cannot provide a person to bring their medicines, and the second is a plane. “Drone” for extinguishing fires with a rapid response, in addition to inventing an advanced robot to contribute to controlling fires effectively.
The club noted that the students presented projects built on the development of previous innovations, with a focus on providing practical solutions that respond to the needs of society, which reflects the UAE’s vision of supporting creativity and harnessing technology to serve humanity.
Al-Maili stressed that the club worked to empower youth by harnessing all capabilities and resources, and integrating artificial intelligence into innovations, to provide innovative technical solutions in the fields of sustainability, transportation, agriculture, and firefighting.
He added that these international participations enhanced the mental skills of young people and raised their level of awareness of global scientific developments, which was reflected in their distinguished performance. He pointed out that the club won five local awards in competitions such as the Fujairah Government Financial Department competition and the Fujairah Grand Sumo Boat Championship, stressing the club’s continued support. Innovation and achieving scientific excellence.
It is noteworthy that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, received a number of UAE students who won awards and medals during their participation in the “Inventor’s Day” competitions in the Republic of Indonesia and the “2024 International Economics Olympiad” in Hong Kong, in the month of October last year.
His Highness congratulated the students during the meeting that took place at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi, expressing his pride in the results they achieved and the high competitive abilities they demonstrated, wishing them success and more distinction in their future participations to achieve their ambitions and raise the name of the UAE.
