They told «Emirates Today» that among the negative practices that have been monitored since the beginning of Ramadan, some consumers restrict specific trademarks, and refuse to buy any alternatives to them, in addition to consumer extravagance by buying fresh products, such as vegetables and fruits that are damaged quickly, calling for the need to avoid these practices in the framework of smart and rational shopping, and to tend to buy needs on successive times instead of buying In large quantities, searching for alternatives to the most appropriate signs, which prove their quality.
Negative practices
The CEO of societal relations in the “Union Cooperative”, Dr. Suhail Al -Bastaki, told “Emirates Today” that “the most prominent manifestations and negative practices that were monitored during the shopping of consumers in the month of Ramadan, some people resorted to storing bids in large quantities, which may expose a large percentage of those goods to damage.”
Al -Bastaki added: «The local markets are currently witnessing, in light of the high competitiveness, continuous manifestations of the offers of discounts that have become successive in many of the outlets throughout the year, especially during the month of Ramadan, which in turn witnesses a great abundance in the offers presented, which denies the need to store goods goods or buy large quantities of them.
He called for the necessity of families to shop in a row, instead of buying large quantities of goods that may be damaged, as this is inconsistent with rational shopping criteria.
Al -Bastaki explained: “Among the negative practices that are also observed for some consumers is to adhere to specific trademarks and not others, and if they are not subject to offers,” referring these practices to a commercial theory that indicates that “the early entry of the markets of some signs controls the loyalty of consumers.” Al -Bastaki advised consumers to try alternative brands with an appropriate price.
