Three students from the College of Engineering (Department of Information Technology and Computer Science) at Abu Dhabi University succeeded in developing an innovative smart system called “My Heart,” which aims to promote heart health and increase awareness of the prevention of heart diseases, focusing on the importance of preventive knowledge to reduce the risks of heart diseases. Heart and improving community health culture.
“My Heart” is an integrated system that can make a real impact on individuals’ lives, as it enhances preventive and medical efforts related to heart health. The system contributes to achieving ideal health outcomes, making it a pioneering model for using technology to improve heart health globally, save lives, and enhance the health of communities.
In detail, the students, Muhammad Omar Qasim, Khalifa Abdullah Al-Rumaithi, and Muhammad Abdel Nasser Oqda, explained that their innovation, which they accomplished under the supervision of Dr. Murad Al-Rajab, combines a mobile phone application and a control panel on the web, and works as an intelligent digital agent based on artificial intelligence. The system can interact with users via voice or text, and in Arabic and English, making it available to a wide segment of society. The system relies on advanced data analysis techniques to provide accurate and personalized health recommendations, as it analyzes users’ health data, such as medical history and daily habits, to provide accurate and personalized answers that promote heart health.
They pointed out that the application provides users with interactive health insights and educational support that enhances cardiac awareness and encourages proactive health management. The web-based control panel also provides advanced features for doctors, allowing them to access detailed patient data to efficiently monitor cases and accurately assess heart-related health risks. The system also provides advanced tools for developing customized educational materials aimed at raising the level of health awareness among patients.
They emphasized that “My Heart” also integrates modern technologies such as natural language processing, voice interaction, and machine learning algorithms, which enables it to provide more effective and understanding interaction. The system also allows patients to enter life factors such as age, gender, weight, etc., to analyze their health condition and calculate risk scores, while providing preventive guidance and immediate answers. One of the main elements of the system is the intelligent virtual assistant (a digital agent similar to a three-dimensional person), which contributes to explaining cardiac concepts and presenting complex medical information in a simplified and easy-to-understand manner. In addition, the system allows doctors to create posters or awareness leaflets using generative artificial intelligence techniques. This helps patients and the community understand common cardiac concepts visually.
The students drew attention to the development of the project, in cooperation with the Senior Consultant in Cardiovascular Diseases at Cleveland Clinic – Abu Dhabi, Dr. Samer Lahham, who stood by the project and provided valuable insights that helped improve the system and enhance its role as an innovative tool in the field of health care. The “My Heart” system reflects young people’s commitment to harnessing modern technology to develop practical and impactful solutions that contribute to improving the quality of life.
