5.1 billion dirhams of non -oil trade between Dubai and Bangladesh in 9 months


Dubai Chambers organized yesterday, “Dubai – Bangladesh Business Forum”, with the aim of enhancing bilateral economic and investment relations, and upgrading the levels of cooperation between business societies in sectors of common concern, in order to support the growth of inter -trade movement.

The organization of the forum comes in light of the growing economic relations between Dubai and Bangladesh, as the value of the non -oil interface between the two sides reached 5.1 billion dirhams, during the first nine months of last year, with a growth of 23.4% compared to the same period in 2023, while the number of active Bengali companies registered in the Dubai Chamber of Commerce membership during 2024 increased by 19% on an annual basis, to the end of last year 8686 companies.

The activities of the forum witnessed the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding between the Dubai Chambers and the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the aim of expanding the scope of bilateral cooperation and joint work to diversify and develop trade and inter -investment.

The two parties will provide an integrated support that includes the services of reconciling business to enhance communication between the exporting and imported companies in Dubai, and its counterpart in Dhaka, in addition to supporting joint projects and investments between private sector companies.

The memo also stipulates the development of cooperation between the two sides in relation to activities, specialized commercial exhibitions and investment missions, and the exchange of information and commercial and economic data.

The memorandum was signed by the Director General of Dubai Chambers, Mohamed Ali Rashid Lootah, and the head of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Texin Ahmed.

“We are keen to provide integrated support to companies and investors from Bangladesh, to contribute to the development of their business in Dubai, by relying on the exceptional elements enjoyed by the emirate, and we are committed to enhancing cooperation between the business community in Dubai and Bangladesh to build promising partnerships and contribute to achieving common development goals.”

For his part, the head of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Texin Ahmed said: “The Bengali community is one of the largest expatriate societies residing in the UAE, and it constitutes about 17% of the total workforce outside Bangladesh, and thus the UAE is the second largest external workplace for Bengali after Saudi Arabia,” noting that the value of trade between Bangladesh and the Emirates in 2024 amounted to about two billion dollars.

Dubai Chambers, within the activities of the forum, presented an introductory offer, highlighting the promising investment opportunities in Dubai for companies from Bangladesh, which includes the logistical services sector, the real estate sector and medical tourism, in addition to the development of software and smart phone applications.

As for the opportunities available to exporters from Dubai to Bangladesh, the introductory offer indicated that it is concentrated in organic chemical products, copper products, rubber and leather, while the most promising sectors of investment in Bangladesh include the financial services sector, including financial technology «Ventic), in addition to data management, logistical services and e -commerce, as well as the medical services and food industries sector.
