5,000 national products worth 165 billion dirhams in the next session of “Made in the Emirates”


The Assistant Undersecretary for the Standards and Legislation Sector at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Dr. Farah Al Zarouni, said in statements to Emirates Today, on the sidelines of the ADIPEC exhibition and conference, that “the next edition of the ‘Made in the Emirates’ exhibition, which will be held next year, provides… Opportunities to purchase more than 5,000 national products worth more than 165 billion dirhams.”

Al Zarouni added: “In the next edition of the exhibition, there will be a great focus on the handicrafts sector, due to its importance in the UAE’s economy.” She indicated that the specifications set by the UAE for various products cover all aspects of life, conform to international standards, and take into account sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint.

She continued: “We are currently working on launching the approved technical specifications for electric cars at the Gulf level, after they were launched locally, due to the increased demand for them,” noting that “there are specific tests that have been set, and the product must pass them.”

She revealed that work is currently underway to develop a standard specification for self-driving cars, the details of which will be announced at a later time.

Al Zarouni confirmed that the UAE has succeeded in making its mark on the level of international specifications and standards, by being present in international organizations working in this field within a short period not exceeding two months, becoming one of the few Arab countries present in these organizations, and this reflects the efforts made by the state and the frameworks. Which it succeeded in providing, to ensure the security of food products, and the availability of all international standards and standards in every product that is manufactured or enters the local market.
