The Executive Director of the Licensing Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, said that the vehicle owner must perform preventive maintenance on his vehicle before the annual technical inspection to ensure the validity of the vehicle’s systems, whether electrical or mechanical, and he identified seven procedures to avoid the vehicle failing the licensing examination.
Regarding the most important measures that must be taken to reduce the possibility of the vehicle failing, he stressed that customers wishing to conduct the technical inspection required to renew their vehicle license must first ensure that they have ownership of the vehicle before heading to the inspection center, in order to save effort and time. He also provided seven tips or procedures that they must take to ensure Successfully pass the examination.
Al Ali enumerated these procedures to Emirates Today, noting the need to ensure that the front and rear lights and warning lights are working, and to ensure that the vehicle is free of any bumps, stickers or unauthorized additives, as well as ensuring that the seat belts in the front seats are working.
He added that the procedures also include ensuring that the tires are valid and free of defects, and ensuring that there are no traces of oil leakage or any other liquids under the vehicle.
He continued that the vehicle owner must ensure the components of the rear trunk, such as the spare tire and the reflective triangle, and must also ensure the validity of the windshield wiper arms, their mechanical movement, and the validity of the rubber part in contact with the glass, because the operation of the wipers is important in maintaining clarity of vision in the event of any fluctuations. Weather conditions such as rain or fog.
According to the systems implemented by the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, the vehicle’s license is canceled if it is unfit to drive and poses a threat to the safety of its driver and road users. The condition of the vehicle is evaluated and a decision is taken to cancel it due to unsuitability for several reasons, including, for example, damage to the vehicle’s base (chassis). Or part of it, either due to an accident the vehicle was exposed to or due to the corrosion of this base. During the past year, the Authority recorded three types of most frequent violations against technical inspection service providers, which included failure to follow the technical inspection standards approved by the Authority or negligence in entering data related to the inspection certificate, as well as non-compliance with circulars, instructions, orders and decisions issued by the Authority, in addition to driving a vehicle.
