90 “Artificial Intelligence” companies established in Abu Dhabi within 6 months

The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry registered more than 400 companies in the emirate by the end of the second quarter of this year, reflecting rapid growth and increasing interest, especially in the artificial intelligence sector.

A new research study issued by the Abu Dhabi Chamber revealed that the emirate witnessed the establishment of an average of one artificial intelligence company every two days during the first half of this year, with artificial intelligence topping the list of the fastest growing sectors in terms of the number of newly established companies. The study explained that nearly 90 companies operating in the field of artificial intelligence were established in just six months, thus recording a growth in the number of companies in the sector, reaching 41.3% during the first half of this year compared to 2023.

A previous study, published by the Chamber last February, revealed that the number of artificial intelligence companies registered in the emirate increased at a compound annual rate of 67% between 2021 and 2023.

The new study indicated that this rapid growth of artificial intelligence companies in the emirate confirms the rapid expansion witnessed by this sector at the local level, and the growing investment attractiveness of Abu Dhabi as a leading center for technological innovation and business practice at the regional and global levels. It also reflects the extent of Abu Dhabi’s strategic commitment to enhancing the artificial intelligence system in supporting the process of sustainable development, and building a knowledge-based society and economy.

The Chamber’s study showed that the commercial activity related to research and consulting, in the fields of innovation and artificial intelligence, is the most widespread among companies during the second quarter of 2024, at a rate equivalent to 69% of the total other activities, which is evidence of the increasing interest of the government and private sectors in developing technology and driving economic growth by focusing on high-level and value-added research and consulting services.

According to the study, AI training activities came in second place with 11%, followed by AI robotics management and operation activities, which accounted for 10%, then AI training wholesale trade, which accounted for 8%, and AI robots retail sales activities, which accounted for 2%, enhancing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading destination for investment, attracting emerging companies and talents in the field of AI, and confirming its readiness to benefit from the integration of AI across various economic sectors.

The study explained that the Abu Dhabi Chamber plays a pivotal role in supporting artificial intelligence companies in the emirate, by providing a platform for communication, cooperation, facilitating trade exchanges, and developing policies to provide an ideal environment that supports the growth of artificial intelligence companies, through its initiatives, programs, and events that act as a bridge between artificial intelligence companies and regulatory bodies in the emirate and the country in general, which ensures securing the current and future needs of the sector.

The Abu Dhabi Chamber pointed out in its study its active role in developing the artificial intelligence scene in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and encouraging the adoption of innovation and digital transformations to contribute to making it the first choice in the Middle East and North Africa region in doing business by 2025 according to its current strategy, by providing comprehensive digital services designed to meet the requirements of artificial intelligence companies, and enabling them to access resources, information and insights about the market, and the necessary support for growth and success, in the competitive business landscape witnessed by Abu Dhabi.
