The General Assembly of the Arab Basketball Federation approved the new formation of the Federation’s Board of Directors for the session that extends from 2024 to 2028, during its meeting held today in Dubai, where she renewed confidence in Major General (M) Ismail Al -Qarqawi, President of the Emirates Basketball Federation, by electing him by acclamation as President of the Arab Federation of Rabaa, respectively.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Fares Al -Mutawa, Secretary -General of the National Olympic Committee, along with representatives of 16 Arab unions out of 22 members.

The new formation of the union included five deputies of the president: Al -Masry Amr Moselhi, the Saudi Abdel Rahman Al -Masaad, the Lebanese Nadim Hakim, the Libyan Fouad Barghash, and the Bahraini Fajr Qasim Hassan on the women’s seat.

The membership of the Council also included: Al -Sudani Hassan Youssef, Kuwaiti Abed Al -Anzi, Al -Yumni Abdul Sattar Al -Hamdani, the Algerian Mahdi Abdel Hamid Osif, the Palestinian Ibrahim Habash, and the Egyptian Nair Mohamed Anwar for the female seat.

The Emirates Federation represented at the meeting, Abdul Latif Al -Fardan, Vice President of the Federation, and Mohamed Abdullah, head of the Executive Office.

Major General (M) Ismail Al -Qarqawi expressed his thanks and appreciation to the members of the General Assembly for renewing their confidence, stressing that this support represents a strong incentive to continue building on the gains and achievements achieved during the previous sessions, in order to enhance the position of Arab basketball at the continental and international levels.

He said: «The last session witnessed a qualitative shift, whether at the level of tournaments or development programs, where we organized 17 Arab clubs for clubs and teams in the categories of men, women, young people and young women, including 3 x 3 championships, and we achieved a wider spread and the participation of teams such as Somalia and Mauritania after a long interruption.

He added that the Arab Federation was keen to develop the arbitration performance by organizing daily lectures and courses during the championships to discuss technical cases and avoid errors, in addition to honoring the distinguished rulers.
