The Ministry of Health and Community Protection has warned against the product “Bull”, which is promoted as a sexual enhancer, but laboratory tests have shown that it contains dangerous substances that threaten health.
The ministry stated, in a circular distributed to medical districts and health authorities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, that the US Food and Drug Administration issued a warning against using the “Thor” product because it causes a sharp drop in blood pressure to a dangerous level, and can pose a great risk to those with heart disease or diabetes.
In detail, the circular, issued by the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Policy and Licensing and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Pharmacovigilance in the State, Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, explained that the “Thor” product is promoted as a natural preparation, nutritional supplement and sexual tonic, but it contains substances that cause symptoms of a sharp drop in blood pressure to a dangerous level, and can pose a great risk to those with heart disease, diabetes or high cholesterol, and those who take medications containing nitrates.
He stressed the need not to use this product, according to the US Food and Drug Administration’s warning, to prevent serious health complications.
Al-Amiri stressed that many unlicensed nutritional supplements and sexual tonics cause health complications. It was also found that many of the products that their promoters claim are natural and herbal contain chemical substances, some of which have been banned globally, or have concentrations that are not based on medical evidence, and may cause health risks, especially for those with chronic diseases, such as kidney, high blood pressure and heart disease.
He pointed out that websites that promote nutritional supplements that are not licensed or registered with the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, could have serious consequences on the health of society.
The Assistant Undersecretary pointed out that the Ministry of Health and Community Protection “continues to announce the types and names of dangerous supplements and tonics to scientifically clarify their risks and side effects, which may lead to death, in order to achieve its mission of promoting the health of the individual and society. He said that the Ministry calls on members of the public to cooperate with it to eliminate any practices that are harmful to the health of the individual, and not to be led by claims on websites and social media.
