Mohammed Marzi, the national Muay Thai team player, presented the UAE with the title of “Arab Belt” in the “Welterweight” category (under-middleweight), at the conclusion of the Arab Muay Thai Professional Championship, which was organized by the Arab Muay Thai Federation at Space Arena 42 on Al Raha Beach in Abu Dhabi.
According to the statement issued by the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation today, Mohammed Marzi won the Welterweight semi-final match against Moroccan Hamza Rashid, and qualified for the final to face Algerian fighter Elias Wari after the latter won the Welterweight semi-final against Iraqi Sajjad Bashir, and Marzi won the final against Elias Wari.
The competitions were held with the participation of 28 fighters representing 14 Arab countries, who competed in 15 matches.
The results of the championship fights also resulted in distinctive Emirati victories, as the fighter Ahmed Al Shammar opened his journey of successes by defeating the Libyan Mohammed Al Kharaaz in the “Bantamweight” category, and the fighter Rafi Ramzi defeated the Tunisian Suhaib Sakik in the “Light Heavy Weight” category, and Ibrahim Bilal completed the Emirati quartet by defeating the Iraqi fighter Bahman Mohammed in the “Super Light Weight” category.
The competitions were attended and the winners were crowned by Stephen Fox, Secretary General of the International Muay Thai Federation, His Excellency Surayut Chasumpat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the UAE, His Excellency Hussam Eddin Dakhil, Chargé d’Affaires of the Tunisian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Mohammed Al-Zarouk Al-Sharif, Vice President of the Arab Federation and President of the Libyan Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, Mustafa Jabbar Alak, President of the Iraqi Muay Thai Federation, Tariq Mohammed Al-Muhairi, Secretary General of the Arab Muay Thai Federation, Mohammed Al-Qubaisi, Representative of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Lahsen Al-Hilali, Head of the Technical Committee of the Arab Muay Thai Federation, and Musa Jaber, Assistant Secretary General of the Arab Muay Thai Federation, in addition to members of the Board of Directors of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation Ali Khoury and Yasser Salem.
For his part, His Excellency Abdullah Saeed Al Neyadi, President of the Asian and Arab Muay Thai Federations and President of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, expressed his happiness with the success achieved by the championship in its first edition for Arab professionals.
He said that the Arab gathering through the tournament in Abu Dhabi confirmed its great position in organizing the largest and most important events and activities at all levels, noting that the tournament represents an important station in the game’s journey to support and develop it.
