Emirates Launches Comprehensive Travel Insurance Program Including Conflict Medical Coverage

Emirates launches Comprehensive Travel Insurance with conflict-related medical cover and rebooking support

Emirates’ Comprehensive Travel Insurance launched on June 16, 2026, offering expanded medical, rebooking and accommodation protections for passengers. The program, branded as Comprehensive Travel Insurance, pairs broad insurance coverage with direct Emirates support at every stage of travel.

Emirates said the new Comprehensive Travel Insurance makes it the first airline to sell an integrated travel insurance product that combines extended medical cover and on-the-ground assistance. The carrier highlighted features designed to protect passengers from medical costs, operational disruptions and baggage losses while travelling through or to Dubai.

Product launch and partnership with Travel Guard

Emirates introduced the Comprehensive Travel Insurance in collaboration with Travel Guard, the carrier said in a statement. The partnership brings together Emirates’ operational support capabilities and Travel Guard’s underwriting experience to create a single bundled offering.

The product is available for purchase at the time of booking on the airline’s website and can be added later through Manage My Booking. Emirates noted that coverage terms and availability vary by market and that standard terms and conditions apply.

Medical and conflict-related coverage details

The new insurance expands medical cover to include expenses arising from incidents connected with conflicts, with a specified benefit of up to $25,000 for such treatment. Emirates also offers unlimited coverage for general medical expenses and emergency medical evacuation worldwide as part of the package.

Policyholders may extend their trip for up to 30 days without paying additional fees under the conflict-related provision, and the carrier emphasised that this element of coverage is not tied to government travel advisories. The insurer and airline said all cover limits and exclusions remain subject to the policy wording.

Rebooking, accommodation and disruption assistance

A central feature of the program is direct support from Emirates when flights are disrupted. Passengers will be rebooked on alternative services at no extra cost when Emirates flights are unavailable, including cases where travel plans involve other carriers or when cancellations result from conflict-related events.

The program further includes hotel accommodation and on-site assistance during operational disruptions such as delays and airspace closures, with Emirates managing hotel stays for affected customers. Compensation for cancelled flights, delayed or lost baggage, and other routine travel contingencies is also included within the policy framework.

Pricing, purchase channels and market availability

Emirates described the Comprehensive Travel Insurance as competitively priced and positioned to deliver added value for travellers planning summer and onward travel. The product is purchasable during online booking or via Manage My Booking for existing reservations, subject to the airline’s terms.

Initial rollout covers a defined group of markets, including Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, Malta, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. Emirates cautioned that coverage and availability may differ by jurisdiction.

Executive statements and customer focus

Tim Clark, president of Emirates, said the airline developed the Comprehensive Travel Insurance in response to customer feedback calling for more inclusive protection. He noted that while demand for travel remains strong, passengers increasingly seek solutions that combine insurance breadth with operational support.

Russel Antonio, head of global business and partnerships at Travel Guard, said the collaboration aims to set new standards in travel protection by integrating insurer expertise with Emirates’ service delivery. Both executives framed the product as part of the carrier’s broader effort to strengthen passenger confidence, particularly during peak travel periods.

Emirates also signalled continuity of several customer-friendly services alongside the insurance launch, including no-fee date changes for tickets booked from April 2 and a 24-hour fare hold option at no charge. The airline said these measures complement the insurance offering and enhance flexibility for travellers.

Emirates emphasised that the Comprehensive Travel Insurance is offered as a service through the airline and that it is not incorporated into other ticket benefits. Passengers are advised to review specific policy terms, exclusions and jurisdictional availability before purchasing the product.

Customers planning trips to or via Dubai are being encouraged to examine the new cover and check eligibility details on Emirates’ booking pages. The carrier recommended that travellers consider the program when arranging itineraries that may cross multiple carriers or travel through regions affected by operational disruptions.
