The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre revealed that the UAE ranked among the top 10 countries in the world in 20 key indicators of global competitiveness in the information and communications technology sector, according to the latest reports issued by a number of the largest international organisations and institutions concerned with global competitiveness, which supports the country’s position as a preferred destination for living, residence, business, trade and investment.
The centre explained that the UAE ranked first in the world in the index of mobile broadband subscriptions per 100 people, according to the Sustainable Development Goals Index report issued by the Bertelsmann Stiftung Foundation for Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the year 2024. It also topped the world in the index of the number of people using the Internet as a percentage of the population, according to the same report.
The UAE also ranked first in the Internet Users Index, according to the World Competitiveness Yearbook 2024 report issued by the International Institute for Management Development.
It ranked first globally in three indicators: the 3G network coverage index as a percentage of the population, the mobile broadband internet subscriptions index per 100 people, and the percentage of people using the internet as a percentage of the population, according to the World Economic Forum’s Travel and Tourism Development Report for 2024.
The Competitiveness and Statistics Center pointed out that the UAE leads in the wireless broadband index, according to the Global Digital Competitiveness Report issued by the International Institute for Management Development for the year 2023, the Internet usage index, according to the Prosperity Index report issued by the Legatum Institute, and the mobile phone subscriptions index per 100 inhabitants, according to the Social Progress Report issued by the “Imperative of Social Progress” organization.
The UAE ranked second globally in the Virtual Professional Networking Index, according to the INSEAD Global Talent Competitiveness Report for the latest edition of 2023. It also ranked second globally in the Mobile Access Index, according to the Legatum Prosperity Index report, while the country ranked third globally in the Digital Skills Index, according to the INSEAD Global Talent Competitiveness Index report for 2023, according to the latest edition.
The Competitiveness and Statistics Authority reported that the UAE ranked fourth globally in the index of access to information and communications technology, according to the Global Innovation Index report issued by the World Intellectual Property Organization for the year 2023.
The UAE ranked eighth globally in three indicators: the Information Security Index according to the World Competitiveness Yearbook Report issued by the International Institute for Management Development for the year 2024, the Tablet Ownership Index according to the World Digital Competitiveness Report issued by the International Institute for Management Development, and the Internet Bandwidth Index according to the Prosperity Index Report issued by the Legatum Institute for the year 2023.
The UAE ranked ninth globally in three indicators, including: the Information and Communications Technology Infrastructure Index, according to the INSEAD Global Talent Competitiveness Index report, the Digital Platforms Usage Index for Transport and Shipping Services, and the Digital Platforms Usage Index for Restaurant, Hotel and Leisure Services, according to the World Economic Forum’s Travel and Tourism Development Report 2024, while it ranked tenth in the Information Security Index, according to the International Institute for Management Development’s Global Digital Competitiveness Report, according to the latest edition for 2023.
