Dubai Finance wins Stevie Global Business Award

The Department of Finance of the Government of Dubai announced that it won a global award in the financial field. The department stated in a statement that it won the gold award in the Stevie International Business Awards 2024, in the “Achievement in Finance” category, in which more than 3,000 financial institutions from around the world competed.

The Department explained that it, represented by the General Revenue Department, received the Gold Award Medal, after participating in the global competition for the Unified Methodology for Calculating the Costs of Government Services (ALMAS) programme, which was prepared and implemented by the Department, with the aim of enhancing transparency and crystallising accuracy in calculating the costs of government services.

The Director General of the Department of Finance, Abdulrahman Saleh Al Saleh, considered that winning the award is evidence of the importance of the success achieved by the “Almas” program for the Government of Dubai. He said: “Winning the Gold Stevie Award confirms the strategic role played by the Department of Finance in developing the public revenue system for the Government of Dubai, by ensuring fair pricing of government services in the emirate,” noting that “Almas” was able to set new standards in pricing government services at the regional and global levels.

For his part, Acting Executive Director of the Central Accounts Sector, Ahmed Ali Muftah, said that the Unified Methodology for Calculating Government Services Costs (ALMAS) program has remained, over the past years, the cornerstone of developing the government revenue system, noting that the program, which is the first of its kind in the region, has succeeded in contributing to achieving its objectives, which are to focus the efforts of financial departments on communicating strategic visions to the leadership, encouraging improved performance, unifying the methodology for calculating costs within the scope of government agencies, supporting strategic decisions related to pricing government services, in addition to assisting in the appropriate allocation of resources, and supporting decisions related to raising the efficiency of providing government services.

In the same context, Director of the Public Revenue Department at the Department, Reham Mohammed Karmostaji, confirmed that “Almas” succeeded in calculating the costs of more than 3,700 government services provided by government agencies that generate revenues for the Dubai government, to ensure fair pricing of government services in the emirate.

She stressed that this programme would achieve the public interest and social justice in imposing and applying fees in the Emirate of Dubai in accordance with the best international standards, as well as supporting strategic decisions related to developing the provision of government services, encouraging improved performance, as well as assisting in the appropriate allocation of resources, and supporting decisions related to the budget.
