The Federal Tax Authority has called on resident legal persons holding licenses issued in July (regardless of the year of issuance of the license) to submit their corporate tax registration applications no later than September 30, to avoid administrative fines.
The Authority stressed, in a statement yesterday, the need to adhere to the specified periods for registering persons subject to corporate and business tax for the purposes of Federal Decree-Law No. (47) of 2022, regarding corporate and business tax and its amendments, which entered into force on March 1, 2024, which specified the time periods within which each category of persons subject to corporate tax must submit registration applications.
The Authority explained that, pursuant to the Cabinet’s decision regarding administrative fines for violations related to the implementation of the Federal Decree-Law on Corporate and Business Tax and its amendments, an administrative fine will be applied to taxable persons who do not submit corporate tax registration applications within the time periods specified in the Authority’s decision in this regard.
She added that her decision applies to the specified periods for submitting registration applications for those subject to corporate tax, including legal persons and natural persons (residents and non-residents), indicating that a resident legal person, if it was established, created or otherwise recognized before March 1, 2024, must submit a registration application for corporate tax to the Authority based on the month of issuance of the license, regardless of the year of issuance.
The Authority added that if the taxable person has more than one license on March 1, 2024, he must adopt the date of issuance of the earlier license, and if the taxable person has an expired license on March 1, 2024, the maximum registration limit will depend on the month in which the license was issued.
The Authority indicated that registration for corporate tax is available through the Emirates Tax platform for digital tax services around the clock through four main steps that take about 30 minutes. The person registered for value-added tax or selective tax can directly access his account through the Emirates Tax platform, then complete the registration request for corporate tax and submit the required documents. After approval of the registration request, he can obtain a tax registration number for corporate tax purposes.
