Emirates Aluminium adopts digital system to track emissions

Emirates Global Aluminium has announced the implementation of a digital system to track greenhouse gas emissions, in order to enhance transparency and accelerate the pace of carbon reduction, in line with the National System for Transparency of Measurement, Reporting and Verification.

According to a statement issued yesterday, Emirates Global Aluminium is the first company in the UAE to adopt this system.

The new system provides a central digital platform for emission data from scopes 1 and 2, and enables Emirates Global Aluminium to implement the process of tracking, documenting and verifying emissions automatically, under the supervision of independent auditors from outside the company.

Stakeholders, including government agencies and customers, are informed of the data through approved dashboards.

The UAE is the first country in the region to develop an integrated system for monitoring emissions and air quality.

The system supports the implementation of the National Climate Change Plan and the fulfillment of international reporting obligations, and enables tracking of the plan’s progress in line with the objectives of the National Air Quality Agenda 2031.

“The Emissions Measurement System enables EGA to meet regulatory requirements while maintaining transparency, and enables auditing of emissions data for our production operations,” said Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of EGA. “It plays a major role in supporting our ambitions to enhance sustainability in our operations to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.”
