Zamalek fans in the Emirates celebrated their team’s victory in the African Super Cup after defeating its traditional rival, Al-Ahly, in the final match that was held on Friday at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia, and ended in a 1-1 draw before the title was decided in favor of Zamalek on penalties with a score of 4-3.
Sports arenas and cafes in various Emirati cities witnessed massive celebrations from Zamalek fans residing in the country, as mass gatherings were organized to watch the match and support the white team. After the end of the match, white and blue flags were raised in the streets of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ajman, and chants were chanted for Zamalek and its players.
Ahmed Nabil, head of the Zamalek Fans Association in the Emirates, said: “This victory is a source of pride for every Zamalek. We here in the Emirates felt as if we were at the heart of the event, and we were certain that our team would return the cup to Cairo.”
He explained that the Zamalek Fans Association in the Emirates, which was founded in 2010, is preparing for another big occasion, as the country is scheduled to host the Egyptian Super Championship between Zamalek, Al-Ahly, Pyramids and Ceramica later this year, indicating that Zamalek fans will create a distinctive festive atmosphere during it, expressing their appreciation for… She is ready to encourage her team with full force on this anticipated occasion.
Ihab Al-Ghamrawi, a Zamalek fan from Abu Dhabi, added: “Zamalek well deserves this title. The team performed wonderfully, and we, as fans abroad, are proud of what the club has achieved.”
Ahmed Ismail, a Zamalek fan in Dubai, added: “After winning the African Super Cup, we are now waiting for the Egyptian Super Cup in the Emirates. We promise to impress on the field and encourage our team until the end as usual.”
