“Emergency” carries out an exercise regarding accidents transporting hazardous materials

The National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority organized the national table exercise “HazMat-17”, in cooperation with federal and local authorities, in order to enhance coordination and cooperation with various authorities concerned with dealing with incidents of transporting hazardous materials, with the aim of raising the level of readiness and readiness to confront these incidents.

The exercise focused on anticipating future needs to enhance national readiness to confront incidents of transporting hazardous materials across the railway network, in addition to identifying current challenges and opportunities for improvement in the field of managing these incidents.

The exercise also included a review of the regulatory standards and updated plans to deal with these incidents, and determining the necessary sequence for the flow of reports and information between the concerned authorities to ensure an effective and rapid response.

This exercise comes within the framework of evaluating national and local mechanisms for responding to incidents of transporting hazardous materials, with a special focus on anticipating future mechanisms that enhance the capabilities of the competent authorities.

During the exercise, existing challenges and opportunities for improvement were identified, and the organizational plans followed to ensure optimal handling of these incidents were reviewed.

In his statement about the exercise, the Director General of the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, Ali Rashid Al Neyadi, said, “The table exercise (HazMat-17) comes within a series of national exercises aimed at raising the level of preparedness and response to hazardous materials incidents, and in cooperation with our partners in the authorities.” We confirm that the safety of society is a top priority, and therefore we constantly seek to strengthen national capabilities and develop the necessary procedures to deal with any emergency.

He added that these exercises contribute significantly to identifying opportunities and areas through which response capabilities can be improved at the national level.

The National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority stresses the importance of continuous cooperation between all concerned parties, to enhance the level of safety and preparedness to confront any emergency incidents.

She said that such exercises contribute to raising public efficiency and improving coordination and rapid response in emergency situations, which enhances community safety and the effectiveness of dealing with hazardous materials incidents.
