Strong early bookings for New Year celebrations in Dubai

STR Hotel Research said that based on data, up to the date of last November 25, 56.8% of the total hotel rooms in Dubai had been booked, on New Year’s Eve in particular, noting that the high levels of early reservations constitute A strong indication of high demand, and confirmation that Dubai remains a very popular destination for tourists during the holiday period.

The company stated to “Emirates Today” that these data indicate a significant increase in demand for Dubai, by 6%, compared to the same period last year, at a time when other popular destinations for New Year’s Eve lovers, such as London, Tokyo and New York, are recording faint growth in demand. Occupancy on the night of December 31, with levels rising by 1, 3 and 4% each, respectively.

In detail, Costas Nikolaidis, CEO of STR in the Middle East and Africa, which specializes in research, said, “Dubai records high occupancy levels for the period between Christmas and New Year, compared to the levels of the same period last year.”

Nikolaidis added, “As of November 25, 56.8% of the total hotel rooms in Dubai have been booked, for New Year’s Eve in particular, according to data from STR and the Costar Group, which specializes in data and analysis of hotel and real estate markets.”

He continued, “These data indicate a significant increase of 6%, compared to the same period last year,” explaining that “these high levels of early reservations constitute a strong indication of high demand, and confirmation that Dubai remains a very popular destination for visitors during the holiday period.” .

Nicolaidis said: “Demand levels for Dubai have been strong since the beginning of this year, rising by 2.4% so far, and at the same time the city continues to increase the supply of hotel rooms by 2%, coinciding with the increase in demand.”

He added: “Other popular destinations for New Year’s Eve enthusiasts, such as London, Tokyo and New York, recorded subdued growth in occupancy on the night of December 31, with levels rising by 1, 3 and 4%, respectively, for each.”

The number of hotel rooms in Dubai, at the end of last October, reached more than 152.5 thousand hotel rooms within 827 hotel facilities, compared to about 149 thousand hotel rooms within 818 facilities at the end of October 2023.

The Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai revealed the latest statistics on the performance of the tourism sector and the numbers of international visitors, which showed that the emirate attracted 14.96 million international tourists during the first 10 months of this year (about 15 million tourists), compared to 13.9 million tourists during the same period of the year. In the past, a growth rate of about 8%.

Preliminary data showed that the aviation and tourism sectors in Dubai are heading to record the highest record performance ever, with the two sectors continuing to achieve strong gains and accelerated growth rates, compared to last year’s levels, in line with the objectives of the emirate’s economic agenda (D33) aimed at strengthening its position as a global city.
