Nasdaq Dubai welcomed the listing of the world’s first sustainability-linked loan financing bond from Emirates NBD, worth $500 million, fully compatible with the new framework of the International Capital Markets Association and the Loan Market Association.
It was stated that the bonds are rated by Moody’s and Fitch at (A2) and (A+), respectively, and extend for five years with a fixed interest rate of 5.141%, maturing in 2029.
This issuance comes within the framework of Emirates NBD’s medium-term Eurobond programme, amounting to $20 billion, as an affirmation of the bank’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in the financial markets.
With this issuance from Emirates NBD, the total value of the bank’s bonds listed on Nasdaq Dubai rises to $5.77 billion, through nine listings.
Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Emirates NBD Bank Group, Hisham Abdullah Al Qassim, rang the opening bell of the trading session at Nasdaq Dubai, along with the CEO of Nasdaq Dubai and the Dubai Financial Market, Hamed Ali.
Al Qassim said: “We are pleased to list the first sustainability-linked loan financing bond in the world that is fully compatible with the new framework of the International Capital Markets Association and the Loan Market Association on the Nasdaq Dubai stock exchange.”
For his part, Ali said: “We welcome the listing of the sustainability-linked loan financing bond from Emirates NBD on Nasdaq Dubai, as the stock exchange continues its role in supporting and supplying issuers by providing a platform to access capital to finance sustainability initiatives and projects.”
