The Dubai Police General Traffic Department seized an Indian person’s four-wheel drive vehicle for endangering his son’s life, according to Dubai Police’s Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs, Major General Mohammed Saif Al-Zafin, who indicated that the department took action after receiving pictures of a child emerging from the car’s sunroof.

Al-Zaffin told Emirates Today that he received pictures from a friend of a vehicle driving at nine in the morning yesterday, on Umm Suqeim Street, with a small child who appeared to be five years old looking out of its sunroof, pointing out that he immediately asked to check the car’s number and determine the location of its owner. And send a patrol directly to him.

He added: “By examining the license plate, it was revealed that the vehicle’s license had expired last November, was owned by a company, and was wanted by the General Department of Criminal Investigations and Investigations, and that the person who was driving it was of Indian nationality, so a driving violation was issued in a way that poses a danger to the public, and the vehicle was transferred to the impound network.”

Al-Zaffin pointed out that when the father was asked about the reasons for his behavior, he stated that he was not aware of the consequences of this behavior, as the child was happy to go out the window, so he did not realize that there was a danger that could befall him.

Al-Zaffin confirmed that the father’s own reaction indicates his low traffic awareness. As soon as he braked for any emergency on the road, or was hit from behind, the child would fly out of the window or his neck or head would hit the edge of it, indicating that his recklessness was also a reason for attracting attention. To the car he was driving and discovered that it had an expired license. He stated that the Federal Traffic Council discussed at its last meeting a careful study prepared by the Emirates Motor Sports Club, regarding the necessity of child seats in the rear seats of vehicles, which addressed the role of these seats in reducing child injuries resulting from accidents, and a comparison with countries that legally impose their presence in vehicles, and the ages of the children required. By sitting in the seats allocated to them, pointing out that the incident that occurred yesterday shows the importance of this procedure. He explained that many accidents occurred with children sitting in the front seats or in seats other than those assigned to them in the back seats, which represents a serious danger to them, because the child’s weight is light, and when the car stops suddenly as a result of colliding with something or for any other reason, the child easily flies and crashes into the windshield or With a solid part of the vehicle, and due to the weakness of his body, he is exposed to serious injury, especially if the injury occurred in the skull.

He pointed out that many mothers do not appreciate the importance of the child sitting in the chair designated for them, and they carry their children in the seat next to the driver and do not realize this until after the accident occurs.
