Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to provide humanitarian and development aid to the Republic of Seychelles, and support its health sector, and with the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs, President of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works.. The Foundation opened a “hospital” Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” which was implemented in the Republic of Seychelles at a cost of 23 million dirhams, equivalent to 6 million and 258 US dollars.
The Director General of the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Work, Mohammed Haji Al Khouri, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Seychelles, Ahmed Saeed Al Neyadi, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Seychelles, Jean-Paul Adam, and a group of officials from the Republic of Seychelles, participated in the opening ceremony of the hospital.
The opening ceremony began with the unveiling of the commemorative plaque, which embodies the completion of this development-health project, which was established on an area of 2,125 square metres. Everyone directed their prayers to His Highness the President of the State, may God protect him, for this generosity, which comes in the Year of Giving and within the framework of The humanitarian and development initiatives provided by the United Arab Emirates in many countries around the world, as the Foundation has reached about 90 countries with its development and relief projects.
An official source at the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Works Foundation said that the initial idea of building the hospital began in coordination with the Ministries of Health and Planning in the Republic of Seychelles in order to identify their health needs.
He added that the institution completed all the construction work, including the supply and installation of medical equipment for the project within a record period of time. The project is located on the island of Mahe and is considered one of the most modern health facilities in the Republic of Seychelles. The responsible source indicated that the hospital was designed using the Modular System, prefabricated and lightweight steel buildings. (which number 40 complete units) was completed in the Emirates, including all initial extensions for electrical, mechanical and medical works, and then the separate units were transported, installed and assembled in Project location and completion of the remaining complementary works.
This innovative mechanism contributed to making the most of the project budget and various preparatory and logistical works, as the project was completed in no more than one year since the company was commissioned.
The Khalifa Humanitarian Foundation has prepared the hospital to receive all cases of women, children and obstetrics, in addition to (30) patient beds with (4) intensive care beds, and an integrated operating room, with another room allocated to be provided with equipment in the future, an emergency department / for women and obstetrics, and a number of ( 5) Outpatient clinic rooms.
The hospital was also equipped with all ancillary services, such as administration offices, a pharmacy, a laboratory, a kitchen, a radiology department, and a sterilization department.
The hospital was recently equipped with a specialized device for high-pressure oxygen therapy for drowning cases, which is the most modern in the Republic of Seychelles.
Note that future expansion was taken into account when designing the project, as it is possible to add a first floor to the building containing (37) additional rooms, as well as (3) maternity rooms and incubators for infants.
