“Awnak Ya Yemen” raises 52.3 million dirhams

The Emirates Red Crescent Authority has identified six basic projects in a plan for the reconstruction of Yemen, within the campaign launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “Help you, Yemen,” in the sectors of health, education, electricity, sanitation, water, and parks.

The total donations to the campaign since its launch on August 30 amounted to 52 million and 300 thousand dirhams, and a number of government and private agencies donated, most notably Al-Zahir Agricultural Company, which donated five million dirhams, and the Saudi Binladin Group, one million dirhams.

The campaign, launched by the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the orders of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aims to Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to help 10 million people affected and affected by the crisis in Yemen.

In detail, the Deputy Secretary-General for the Marketing and Fundraising Sector of the Authority, Fahd Abdul Rahman bin Sultan, said that the “Help You, Yemen” campaign will not be like the various relief campaigns organized by the Authority, but rather will focus on the reconstruction of Yemen in general, especially after the events it has gone through. Yemeni cities.

He added, “Reconstruction will take longer than relief and requires a study and inventory of needs,” explaining that “the authority has identified a number of stages for reconstruction, the first of which is six projects in the health, education, and infrastructure sectors.” The budget will change according to each project and the needs, as we will start in Aden according to the plan, and then move to the other governorates.”

Bin Sultan confirmed that the first project is related to supplying the city of Aden with electricity, as the authority succeeded in restoring electricity to 85% of Aden, but it needs to complete the project after bringing the necessary generators from the Emirates, and the second project is rehabilitating, maintaining, and building schools in Aden for students, and the authority limited 54 schools in the first phase to maintain, rehabilitate and provide them with educational supplies within two weeks, the third is related to the rehabilitation of hospitals, clinics and medical centers, and the fourth project will focus on infrastructure and sanitation, The fifth is to rehabilitate gardens, and the sixth is to provide the Aden region with potable water, as part of the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, “Water Emirates”, which allocated 50 million dirhams for the project, of which four million dirhams were allocated to equip a water purification and desalination plant.

Bin Sultan added, “The reconstruction campaign will need to purchase missing relief materials from the local market to revive the economy in the region and keep the wheel of production moving.”
