The first edition of the Emirates International Skydiving Championship, organized by the Air Sports Federation, begins today, with the participation of more than 200 international jumpers.
The Air Sports Federation said in a statement yesterday that the championship is one of the most prominent international sporting events in the field of freediving, and is divided into two main stages. The first will be held at the “Clym” facility, which includes the longest indoor freediving wind tunnel in the world on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, and includes competitions. Indoor skydiving, while the second stage will be held at the Skydive Dubai site on the 25th and 26th of this month, and includes outdoor freediving competitions.
The Federation explained that the indoor free jumping competitions include the indoor team formation for free jumping, consisting of 16 jumpers, and the indoor team formation for free jumping (double event), in addition to the indoor team formation for free jumping, consisting of eight jumpers.
The statement explained that the competitions include the jump race and a group of categories, including the individual pursuit, the relay race, and the final race.
