In detail, drivers told Emirates Al-Youm that they constantly monitor children riding electric bicycles (scooters) on the roads in a reckless manner, including driving at high speed and entering the road without paying attention to the movement of vehicles, in addition to many of them not wearing protective equipment. Which may expose them to the risk of being run over and seriously injured.

They stressed the importance of families playing their preventive role in educating their children about safe driving of electric bicycles, so that they do not turn into a dangerous tool that threatens their lives, and choosing appropriate methods for riding these bicycles, which require a great deal of caution and caution while riding them, especially on internal roads that witness heavy vehicle traffic. .

Abeer Muhammad, Abu Abdullah, Rami Moussa, and others said that they observed children as young as 15 years old riding electric bicycles recklessly, and not wearing shock protection equipment in the event of a fall, in addition to performing acrobatic movements, which exposes them to the risk of colliding with vehicles or suddenly falling on the road. .

They stressed the importance of families taking preventive measures to reduce accidents that may occur due to children riding this type of bicycle.

Others warned against some families buying electric scooters and allowing their children, who are not more than 10 years old, to ride them on internal roads, considering that this constitutes an imminent danger to the life of the child who does not have sufficient ability to avoid road surprises, or how to behave properly. For its part, Abu Dhabi Police stressed on its electronic platforms the necessity of obligating children to wear protective equipment while driving motorcycles and electric scooters, as part of the Ministry of Interior’s first quarterly campaign for the year 2025 at the state level, entitled “Traffic Safety for Cyclists,” with the aim of enhancing traffic awareness of procedures The safety necessary for using bicycles of all types.
