The salaries of citizens of citizens outperform the expatriates by 8,000 dirhams

Data obtained by «Emirates Today» showed that the salaries of all citizens in the hospitals of the Ministry of Health and their health centers exceeded the salaries of expatriate doctors, after the last increase in salaries, at rates of 8,000 dirhams.

It appeared that the consultant (a) the citizen gets according to the new salary, and the new technical allowance is 56900 dirhams, while the consultant (A) arriving at the salary of 51610 dirhams, with a difference of more than 5,000 dirhams, receives the citizen’s advisory.

According to the new schedule of salaries, the citizen consultant (B) receives a salary of 48655 dirhams, while his expatriate counterpart gets 43365 dirhams, with a difference of more than 5,000 dirhams.

The difference increases to more than 8,000 dirhams in the cases of specialized doctors, as the specialist (A) gets the salary of 36820 dirhams, while his expatriate counterpart receives a salary of 28745 dirhams, and the specialist (B) increases by about 6000 dirhams for his expatriate counterpart.

The salary schedule shows that citizens in the rest of the grades, such as the general practitioner and the novice doctor, increase their salaries on the salaries of expatriates, at rates of up to 6000 dirhams.

An official source in the ministry said that the new salary schedule for citizen doctors shows its increase on the salaries of expatriates, but what sparked some doctors, that the arrivals consultants obtained an increase of 150 %, while the citizens increased by 100 %.

He explained, “The technical allowance for the expatriate consultant was increased by 50 %, so that it tied with the citizen’s consultant bonus, then another increase was added by 100 %, to become an expatriate increase 150 %.”

A large number of doctors went to the ministry and “called on senior officials in it to equate the increase in the technical allowance, but the demand was not decided.”

The doctors submitted a request to increase their technical allowances by 150 %, according to the increase granted to expatriate consultant doctors.

An official in the ministry told «Emirates Today» that “the ministry needs 2,200 doctors, and the presence of a few citizens who prevent the coverage of 15 hospitals and 70 health centers, so the ministry is moving towards attracting expatriate medical competencies.”

He explained that «the arriving consultants are required, and in front of them an open Gulf market offer them very large salaries.

He continued, “It is unacceptable to leave departments in hospitals without doctors and there are patients who ask for treatment, so the allowance of these consultants was raised with the knowledge of the Ministry of Finance, until they remain in the state.”
