A fifty-something man saves a child and his mother from death in the “Ajman building fire”


The Deputy Director General of the General Administration of Civil Defense in Ajman, Brigadier General Rashid Jassim Majlad, honored Farouk Islam Noor Al Haq (50 years old – Bengali), in appreciation of his heroism in saving a child (3 years old), whose mother threw him from the balcony of her apartment in the Al Nuaimiya area, to save him from a fire that broke out in He entered the building’s corridor, causing thick smoke to spread, then he helped the mother jump from the balcony.

Nour Al-Haq told Emirates Al-Youm that he was on his way to buy some of his needs from a grocery near the building that was exposed to the fire, and he saw a Pakistani woman calling for help in Urdu and asking for help, and no one responded to her, because they did not know her language, pointing out that he approached the woman, She told him that there was a fire in the building, and she was afraid to leave the house with her child (3 years old) for fear that he would get hurt.

He added that he explained to her the mechanism for throwing the child from the balcony, so that he could catch him without him falling to the ground, noting that the mother threw the child from the second floor, and he was able to catch him, due to the balcony’s close distance to the ground, without sustaining any harm.

He continued that he put the child aside after making sure he was safe, then he helped the mother jump from the balcony by instructing her in a way to jump so that she would not be harmed, and the mother was able to jump over a car, indicating that he remained with the mother and child until the ambulance and civil defense arrived, to reassure him. On them.

He pointed out that he works in the industrial zone as a mechanic, stressing that what he did is a social duty.

Brigadier General Rashid Jassim Majlad confirmed that the administration is keen to honor those who perform heroic actions that contribute to reducing the occurrence of accidents and deaths, noting that Nour Al-Haq performed a heroic act that deserves to be honored.

He called on the public to sometimes provide assistance to those exposed to minor accidents until support arrives from official authorities, pointing out the importance of taking safety measures, implementing evacuation plans in residential buildings, ensuring that materials are stored in their correct places, and using emergency exits in the event of fires.

A fire broke out in the Al Nuaimiya area, as a result of the burning of a washing machine and a refrigerator in the building’s corridor, which led to the spread of thick smoke and caused pollution to the building. Civil defense, rescue and national ambulance vehicles moved to the site of the accident, evacuated the building of residents, and controlled the fire.

The accident resulted in the injury of the mother and an Arab man who threw himself from the first floor to escape the smoke rising from the effects of the fire. As a result, he suffered various injuries, and they were subsequently transferred to the hospital to receive the necessary treatment.
