Abu Dhabi will host the 3-a-side Basketball World Tour – Abu Dhabi 2024, organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in cooperation with the International Basketball Federation, on October 26 and 27, at the Corniche area.
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council said in a statement that the event will witness exciting competition between the best three-a-side basketball players in the world, including medal winners from the Paris Olympics, while the final list of participating teams is still being prepared, with more teams waiting to qualify for the event.
The Dutch team Amsterdam is participating in the tour, noting that the Dutch team won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics, as well as the Ub team from Serbia, in addition to the Vienna teams from Austria, Hangzhou from China, and Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy from Mongolia.
In the statement, the Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Aref Al Awani, confirmed that “Abu Dhabi is fully prepared to host the anticipated international event, as is the capital’s custom in organizing all sports tournaments and events.”
The Abu Dhabi Championship, which is part of the World Tour season, will feature 14 international teams, in addition to a local team.
The tour offers cash prizes of over $160,000, with the first-place team receiving $40,000, the second-place team $30,000, and the third-place team $22,000, while ticket prices start at AED 25.
