The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation announced the opening of registration for the 16th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which will be held at Mubadala Arena from November 6 to 17.
The organising committee of the tournament held a meeting headed by the Vice President of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, during which it discussed the ongoing preparations for launching the tournament.
A press release stated that the organising committee decided to extend the tournament to 12 days. The statement read: “This step allows for more fights to be held, and opens the way for a wider audience to enjoy a unique experience of exciting competitions. The tournament’s schedule also contributes to accommodating a greater number of participants in different categories, ensuring the best possible platform to showcase talent and sustain the growth of the sport.”
The Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Festival includes children, juniors and cubs competitions on November 6 and 7, para-jiu-jitsu on November 7, junior and youth competitions on November 8 and 9, amateur competitions on November 10 and 11, masters competitions on November 12 and 13, and professional competitions on November 14, 15 and 16, concluding with the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Award on November 17.
The tournament is expected to attract more than 8,000 male and female players from more than 100 countries.
For his part, Al Dhaheri said: “Over the past years, the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship has succeeded in establishing itself as one of the most prominent global sporting events, and has witnessed tremendous growth that reflects the growing interest in the sport of Jiu-Jitsu at the local and international levels. The championship has become a major station for the most prominent athletes and professionals who aspire to achieve the best in their sporting careers, and attracts elite competitors from all over the world.”
