This came during His Highness’s chairmanship of the General Assembly meeting of the National Olympic Committee, which was held today (Monday) in Dubai, during which His Highness’s vision for the future of the Olympic movement in the UAE for the Olympic period 2024-2028 was reviewed, in the presence of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee and Head of the Executive Office of the Committee, His Excellency Fares Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee, members of the General Assembly and members of the Committee’s Board of Directors.

Perfect environment

The Elite Club aims to provide an ideal environment for athletes by providing advanced training programs and technical and financial support to achieve the best results at the regional and international levels, while enhancing the status of Emirati sports globally in accordance with Olympic values ​​and principles. The club will be launched under the supervision and sponsorship of the National Olympic Committee and in coordination with the relevant authorities, with the Secretary-General of the Committee being assigned to develop a complete vision for forming the club’s management structure, and to study the mechanisms for allocating the necessary financial resources to achieve its goals, provided that this vision is submitted to His Highness the President of the National Olympic Committee for approval within a month. From its history.

Extending the mandate of the current council

During the meeting, the General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee approved extending the mandate of the current Board of Directors of the Committee until the end of the 2028 Olympic Games if they are held, while assigning the Committee’s Board of Directors to take all necessary legal measures in the event that any of its seats become vacant during that period, for any reason for the demise of membership. The Board of Directors, in accordance with the text of Article (50) of the provisions of the statute of the National Olympic Committee.

Adopting the artistic and sports vision

The General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee also approved the technical and sports vision of the committee, as the Olympic Committee works to promote noble sporting values, support competitive sports and develop the performance of athletes, with a focus on women’s sports, in addition to encouraging society to adopt a healthy lifestyle, through sustainable initiatives and projects. Which reflects the country’s vision and is in line with the principles of the Olympic Movement.

Within its technical and sports vision, the National Olympic Committee undertakes the technical aspects of all sports federations in accordance with the provisions of the Sports Law and its executive regulations, and in accordance with what is stated in the statute of the Olympic Committee, by contributing with sports federations to prepare national sports teams, in accordance with international standards, and using scientific and institutional methods. modern; To prepare sports teams to participate in sports tournaments that fall under the umbrella of the National Olympic Committee during the 2024-2028 Olympic period; This enhances the country’s position on the international and Olympic sports scene .

The National Olympic Committee is building bridges of constructive cooperation with various international sports bodies and organizations, by strengthening joint work between the National Olympic Committee and international bodies, with the aim of empowering national leadership in the Olympic field, in addition to assigning the Secretary General of the Olympic Committee to coordinate with the International Olympic Committee regarding decisions. Taken at the General Assembly meeting, as well as coordination with international sports organizations regarding the National Olympic Committee’s hosting of global events, occasions and events related to the International Olympic Movement..

The committee’s new building

During the General Assembly meeting of the National Olympic Committee, the opening of the new building of the Committee, based in Dubai, was approved during the first quarter of 2025, with the General Secretariat of the Olympic Committee being assigned to coordinate with all sports federations members of the Committee regarding the headquarters of those federations, and to work to complete the transfer operations to the new building during the period. specified, with the Secretary General of the Olympic Committee submitting a detailed report on this matter within one month from its date to His Highness the President of the National Olympic Committee.

The General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee also approved the nomination of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee, as Chairman of the Advisory Council of the National Olympic Committee and his formation of the Advisory Council in accordance with the text of Article (40) of the provisions of the statute of the National Olympic Committee and the laws in force in this regard..

Sports Arbitration Council

During the meeting, the General Assembly also approved the formation of the Sports Arbitration Council of the Emirates Sports Arbitration Center for the period 2024-2028. This is in accordance with the provisions of Federal Law No. (16) of 2016 regarding the Emirates Sports Arbitration Center, and the text of Article (11) of the provisions of the statute of the National Olympic Committee regarding the Emirates Sports Arbitration Center, with thanks extended to the Chairman and members of the Center’s Sports Arbitration Council for the end of their term of office 2020-2024..
