“AIM Summit” discusses in Abu Dhabi the UAE approach to “influential investment”


His Highness Sheikh Hamid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, witnessed the opening ceremony of the 14th session of the “AIM Investment Summit” in the “Denik Abu Dhabi Center”, yesterday, with the participation of about 20 thousand participants from 180 countries, and the presence of a number of heads of state and more than 60 ministers and officials, and 150 speakers participating in 400 dialogue sessions.

The summit – which highlights the UAE’s adoption of the “influential investment” approach and its role in strengthening economies – is organized by the support of the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology and the Ministry of Investment, under the slogan “The Future of the Future of Global Investment: the new trend of the global investment scene, towards a balanced global system.”

In addition to the activities of the summit, the activities of the third session of the Global Forum for Local Production, organized by the World Health Organization, were launched under the slogan “Enhancement of local production for health justice, global health security and sustainable development.”

The Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the head of the summit, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al -Zyoudi, stressed that the hosting of Abu Dhabi for the “AIM Investment Summit” contributes to continuing to consolidate the UAE’s position as a global destination for foreign direct investment flows, and a central center for the global investment community.

He added in an opening speech that the summit constitutes an important international platform to build a new trend for global investment, and an opportunity to enhance international efforts to achieve the positive transformation in this field by expanding investment opportunities, leading innovation and developing international strategic communication.

Al -Zyoudi welcomed at the beginning of his speech with the participants at the summit, which comes at the time of the UAE continues to provide a leading global model to follow the positive impact of investment in promoting comprehensive and sustainable growth, and reflects the state’s keenness to continue its efforts to harness the capabilities of foreign direct investment and global trade to advance economic growth.

He pointed out that the summit constitutes an important platform to highlight the new global investment scene, which is highlighted by “influential investment”, stressing that the UAE in light of the directives of the wise leadership was keen to adopt this approach by achieving the positive impact of investments in strengthening economies, supporting societies and upgrading the quality of life.

Al -Zyoudi stated that the UAE, according to the Global Investment Report, became the 16th place in terms of the largest source of foreign investment in the world. In 2023, the UAE allocated $ 22.3 billion to international projects that included many developing markets, and also attracted 30.7 billion dollars in 2023, ranked 11th globally in terms of foreign direct investment flows.

For his part, the Secretary -General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Abul -Gheit, said that the pillar of development and progress in the Arab countries depends on its ability to do the optimal exploitation of its young energies, and its strategic location that attracts investment, as investment is no longer just a purely economic activity, but has become an essential element in achieving security and economic integration.

In the same context, the President of Armenia, Fehagan Garniki Kachatorian, stressed the importance of strategic investments, focusing on the role of innovation, education and cooperation in the global economy, which is witnessing a rapid shift. Armenia’s readiness to play a constructive role in making the future of global investment, and expanding the umbrella of its targets, especially that Armenia has a great experience in this field through its investments in creative technologies, education, artificial intelligence, robots, and advanced technology.

For his part, Democratic Congo, Dennis Sasso Ngisu, pointed to the great investment capabilities in the Congo, especially in the areas of infrastructure, clean energy, and agricultural development that are major pillars for sustainable development, pointing to the important natural resources that the Congo possesses such as gold, zinc, diamonds, oil, and gas, which are vital economic engines, to this, to this Its important strategic location, which makes it a major crossing point for global trade.

He affirmed the Congo’s readiness to support entrepreneurs, modernize public services to enhance innovation, and provide an advanced business environment for investors to ensure the success and growth of their business.

As for the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minikhanov, he praised the process of rapid growth and development in the fields of investment and innovation witnessed by the UAE in particular and the countries of the region in general, indicating that Tatarstan showed in the field of investment an exceptional flexibility despite global instability, as the rate of investment growth in fixed capital reached more than 12%.
