Al Wasl is champion of the Emirates Open Water Cup


The Chairman of the Business Administration Committee of the Swimming Federation, Abdullah Al Wahaibi, confirmed that the Emirates Swimming Cup (Open Water) Championship, which was held at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, the day before yesterday, witnessed great interaction from the clubs and wonderful participation from the swimmers, reaching 95 swimmers from six clubs. This indicates the keenness of the clubs to participate and compete, especially in this type of difficult races at sea.

Al Wasl, Fujairah Martial Arts, Abu Dhabi Water Sports, Al Bataeh, Ajman and Mleiha clubs participated in the tournament.

Al Wasl Club succeeded in winning the general and junior categories, while Al Fujairah won the under-15 category.

Abdullah Al Wahaibi told Emirates Today: “The Open Water Championship is held annually in Abu Dhabi, and during this year the tournament witnessed large participation from clubs and a number of swimmers in various categories over different distances in the sea waters of the Abu Dhabi Corniche. The tournament comes as part of the preparations for the upcoming participation of the teams in various Categories.
