The Sharjah team reaped three important gains with its 4-1 victory over its host Baniyas, in the match that brought them together the day before yesterday in Al Shamkha, in the seventh round of the ADNOC Professional Football League, but on the other hand, it received a major shock with the injury of striker Caio Lucas, who left. The match stadium in the 31st minute.

The first gain is the team regaining the joint lead temporarily with its rival Shabab Al-Ahly, which will miss the current round due to the postponement of its match against Al-Ain, due to the latter’s continental and Asian matches overlapping with the local competition. By defeating Al-Samawi, “The King” added 18 points to his score, thus enhancing his chances of competing for the title.

Sharjah’s second gain was the birth of a new goalkeeper in the team, after Hamdan Al Hammadi (who became the youngest goalkeeper in the history of the competition) participated in the match as a starter, due to the absence of the duo Adel Al Hosani and Mayed Musabih after they were expelled against Shabab Al Ahly, and the failure of the third goalkeeper, Khaled Tawhid, to recover from injury. The goalkeeper performed well in his first appearance and was not afraid to enter the match.

As for the third gain, it is that the team was subjected to a strong test that is considered a good “rehearsal” before traveling to the Qatari capital, Doha, to meet Sepahan Isfahan in the AFC Champions League 2 next Tuesday, in a tournament in which Sharjah leads its group with 10 points.

For his part, a member of the Sharjah Football Company, Jamal Buhandi, who seemed very happy with the victory achieved by “The King” in the match, said that resolving the match was an important matter for the Sharjah team and players from a moral standpoint, explaining that the victory helped the team to return to the competition circle. For the title again.

He added in press statements: “We got three points and returned to compete for the championship, and the victory also gave us a morale boost before the resumption of matches in the AFC Champions League 2. The most important gains were the participation of goalkeeper Hamdan Al Hammadi, who presented himself well and appeared with complete confidence, and confirmed that the future of goalkeeping is fine. But the negative point is Caio Lucas’ injury, as he is one of the team’s pillars. His injury is painful, and I hope it does not last long.”

Baniyas Administrative: A match to forget

The manager of the Baniyas team, Mansour Saleh, acknowledged that “Al-Samawi” did not appear during the confrontation with Sharjah at the expected level that he had been performing since the beginning of the season, indicating that this match was to be forgotten, pointing out that they took advantage of the opportunities they obtained.

He said in press statements after the end of the confrontation: “At the beginning of the season, we faced big teams, so we must work now to raise morale and restore spirit to the team, and come back and compete again, and score points and come out with the position we deserve.”
