Dubai Roads and Transport Authority announced the closure of Umm Suqeim Street after the intersection of Al -Khail Street, for a temporary period that did not indicate its duration.
The authority said that the street was closed after the Al -Khail Street intersection in the east to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street, and the traffic was transformed towards alternative roads towards Al -Khail Street and Hessa Street.
In 2013, the authority opened the intersection that connects the streets of Hessa, Al -Khail and Al -Barsha area with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. The intersection serves the traffic movement to and from the Al Barsha area via Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and provides free traffic in all directions, in addition to the areas surrounding the intersection, which is under development.
The road network development projects in that area included the expansion of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road with a length of approximately 10 km, from three tracks to six tracks in each direction. The creation of the bridge intersection instead of the current surface intersection with Al -Barsha Street included to serve the new development areas between the streets of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and Al -Khail, and the establishment of a brutal link that passes over the pelvic roundabout, consisting of five tracks linking Al -Elais Street coming from Jabal Ali and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street, Of them three tracks towards Dubai, and two paths towards Abu Dhabi, with a total length of approximately 2.5 km.
