A source familiar with the Emirates Today confirmed that the task of the Sharjah coach, Romanian Oario Cosmin, with the UAE national team will start officially after the end of Sharjah’s participation in the current football season competitions 2024-2025, whether at the local or Asian level, as the Romanian coach will lead Sharjah in the remaining rounds of the ADNOC Professional League, as well as in the final match in the President’s Cup against Al-Ahly youth, on May 9, It is scheduled to be held at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Al -Jazira Club in Abu Dhabi, and will lead Cosmin Sharjah in the final match against Lyon City, the Singaporean team, in the AFC Champions League 2, scheduled in Singapore on May 18.
The source said, “Although Cosmin finally signed a contract to train the UAE team for two years to succeed the former coach, Portuguese Paulo Pinto, his relationship is still continuing with Sharjah, as it is linked to a contract with the club until the end of the current season, after the Sharjah Club had previously renewed his contract for the second time, as it was the first time with a contract for two seasons starting from October 2021 to 2023.”
According to the contract he signed recently with the Football Association, Cosmin will start his mission with the Emirati white during his match against Uzbekistan, scheduled for the fifth of next June, and then his match against Kyrgyzstan, scheduled for the 10th of the same month, within the last two rounds in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
