DEWA inaugurates a water tank with a capacity of 30 million gallons in Hatta

Yesterday, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced the start of operation of the water tank it built in the Hatta area, with a capacity of 30 million gallons of desalinated water.

The authority stated, in a statement, that the project included the construction of support buildings and the extension of entrance and exit pipes, at a cost of approximately 86 million dirhams.

Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, said that the water tank project in Hatta supports the comprehensive development plan for the Hatta region launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, where The water tanks implemented by the Authority help raise the quantities of water flow, increase the reserve stock, to meet the growing demand, and enhance the efficiency and reliability of water networks to keep pace with the needs of sustainable development in Dubai.

Al Tayer added that the Authority this year launched water tanks in the Al Lisaili and Nakhli areas, while it is working on constructing a tank in Hassyan with a capacity of 120 million gallons, bringing the storage capacity of the Emirate of Dubai to one billion and 121 million gallons of desalinated water in the first quarter of 2025.

It is noteworthy that Dubai Electricity and Water Authority is currently working on implementing a project to store 6,000 million gallons of desalinated water in groundwater basins and retrieve it when needed.

This technology provides a strategic reserve that supplies the emirate with more than 50 million gallons of water per day in emergency situations for a period of 90 days, while ensuring the safety of the stored water from external influences.
